I don't think we ever got to the bottom of things. Are we likely to not see any Leaf trades announced until Reaves clears waivers AT the TDL tomorrow because the cap space isn't actually available until then? |

They can put Patches on LTIR to make up for it...Not an issue. |

Leafs aren’t getting Rantanen.
My sources are telling me it’s Jarnkrok, a mid level prospect like Grebenkin, and a late draft pick for Laughton.
Leafs are asking about Risto, but Philly wants either Cowan/Minten and Tre isn’t biting.
So just Laughton. |

Rantanen is only $4.6, aka Jarnkrok and Kampf.
Don't really need either. Holmberg replaces Kampf and Jarnkrok hasn't been around all season so technically doesn't need replacing.
If the cost isn't too high to acquire him, as a rental, I would do it in a second.
Knies, Matthews, Marner
Nylander, Tavares, Rantanen
That's a killer top 6.
If Marner doesn't re-sign, sign Rantanen. If Marner re-signs, trade away some money in the summer and re-sign Rantanen too.
Cowan, Minten, whomever else will never be AS GOOD as Rantanen is right now.
Leafs window is the next 3 years at least, gotta make a big move to get the Cup in at least one of those 3 years, IMHO.
After that, one top 4 Dman will shore up the defense and this team is ready.
How they acquire Rant and a Dman, is what I can't figure out. (Niemela, Robertson and McMann are the only other tradeable pieces with some type of value) |

At that point, why TF wouldn't Carolina just keep him for a playoff run?!?!? |

Not sure TBH.
Maybe he just doesn't want to be there. He isn't playing well for them. Maybe he hates Brind A'Mour's systems?!?! |

His 1.15 is off for the purposes of adding salary ....the only TBD is whether it's the full 1.35.
So not an issue.
This minute they have 14F, 7D and 2G ....and have ~2.M in LTIR space.
If they're adding a forward ...one will have to go out. If they're adding 2 players ...two will have to go out. So factor the deductions into the additions.
Hypothetically ...if they're adding a F and a D and delete Timmins and Dewar they'd have about $4.3M in room to add.
Switch Dewar for Kampf and they're up to $5.5M.
Etc.... |

Well it was technically a 9 year window that they've only been licking that window for 6 years.
3 years left. |

Raleigh is honestly a really poopty place to live. It’s not north enough to be around everything like in NYC, and it’s not south enough to have nice weather in the winter. North Carolina is pig farms, swamps, and rednecks. Raleigh isn’t even on the ocean, it’s inland. Total poophole. |

You guys always do this.
Noodles does this too. You always defend the person if they espouse right wing politics. Never mind that he just isn’t very talented, or that he makes poor decisions like getting drunk and posting a deranged rant on social media regarding custody of his kid.
The vicious attacks on Ron McLean were disgusting when Cherry got fired. McLean had nothing to do with it, in fact he went along with Cherry’s off-colour remarks for decades. Still, constant online bullying towards Ron.
You’s need to relax a little. - Arctic_AARDVARK
For me, Dan has nothing to do with Don.
Don was Don for decades. Flamboyant, very popular.
Dan had a drinking problem that wasn’t well known. I can identify with a functioning alcoholic. Send the guy to rehab.
Both situations could have been handled differently, with much smoother public parting of ways. IMO.
I’m not getting into the politics, just here to talk hockey |

Rantanen+Marner+Matthews+Nylander+Knies (new deal) .....can't see that happening. Holmberg would have to be the 2nd and 3rd line centre b/c there'd be no cap space.
