Those three programs you mentioned are the three biggest drivers of federal debt. The CBO has been warning for years that if nothing’s done, they’ll be insolvent by the 2030s. Something is going to have to be done to address them. Better now than later.

SS is not a debt. It is a federal surplus that all tax payers pay into. 100% incorrect. Money is paid into it by taxpayers and retirees draw on it. Whatever is left is used for federal funding...

and technically Medicare is not a debt. It does contribute to the national debt but not a debt in and of itself. Danny and I went to the same school except I actually graduated from Wharton.
