Laughton got a 1st and a prospect. Not a bad return for a dude that has never cracked 20 goals or 50 points

Watch Vegas try to get EK. They love the spectacle… and would pay out the ass for it.

His family probably likes him. As a hockey player....probably not.

Rakell or EK would be a solid deadline for Dubas.
- Aaron_85

I think EK will be a summer move. Our local reporters say there's interest in Karlsson and if Pittsburgh holds about $2M in salary, plenty of teams would be interested in him at $8M, especially since his actual salary is lower (I think $11.5M over the last 2 years).

He needs to go because he isnt going to work out here and he isnt worth wasting the last few years of his career here.

Rakell is a dividing topic among the fanbase. On one hand, he is playing well with Crosby and is signed long enough to stick around and be apart of the solution. On the other hand, if you see what other guys are going for, it probably makes sense to cash in big on him.

Overall, Ill give him a pass if neither guy is traded today.

Almost feels like a foregone conclusion that Rak ends up in Carolina. Man, that Rantanen trade was a huge mistake for them.

I think you're right. If Rakell COULD be moved for a big return then why not?

EK is likely an off season move because cap is easier to negotiate and a team like Dallas or someone else who can make the space. $8 and he's definitely worth of reasonable assets.

Should be good for moving up in the draft if they want.

The Penguins now have 17 picks in the first three rounds of the next three drafts...Four first-round picks, six second-round picks and seven third-round picks.

Honestly hoping Rak and Karlsson to Carolina. If they wanna be a winner why not make another splash if you are Carolina? Bring them both in. Karlsson probably has a slight decreased value with his cap hit. Give us Burns, Kotkaniemi and a draft pick for Karlsson then multiple prospects/young players (even one acquired in the Dallas deal). They also still have their 1st round pick to offer.

Carolina now has Stankoven and 2 1st round picks at their disposal. Plus some really elite prospects.

They had better find something or else a lot of questions will be asked.

I guess it depends on how quick you think it's a solution. To me, this is still a muti year process if you want to build up an actual contender instead of a middle of the road competes for a wildcard team. So I don't see Rackell helping besides giving Sid a good linemate the next few years.

100% agree. Keeping in mind there was A LOT of comments saying at last deadline we would need to pay to get rid of Rak… that could easily be the case again by next deadline.
Highly unlikely these prices are this high next deadline and highly unlikely Rak has another career year.

It's true! We have 0% change of making the playoffs currently. With these prices you can hopefully land a prospect/young talent who could replace Rak. One year ago we would have taken a 2nd for him. Now there is a potential we could land a very large return. You take that large return for him and you don't look back!

Schenn and Beauv got us each a 2nd rounder... wow

So Rackell is gonna net a 1st and a 3rd?

Yohe: There remains a chance Rakell is moved today, though I keep hearing that it's only happening if the offer is overwhelming. What = overwhelming? Only Kyle Dubas knows the answer. The Penguins don't view keeping him as failure. They love the player and the contract. Stay tuned.

So I guess he’s not really saying much. I want acciari and gryz to be gone and at that point I am happy.

It depends on what Dubas's plan actually is. If his plan is to draft players with mostly all of the picks he has, then I agree, that is still several years out.

I dont thats the plan though. I think the plan is to accumulate picks and use those picks to trade for young NHL talent. Add in the fact that they could draft a player in the top 5 who might be NHL ready plus pursue a big fish like Marner, they could see next year as a final retool/rebuild, then compete in 26-27 season.

Also a win by removing those guys and getting whatever you can back. I think 1 of the two gone would be a win.

Definitely hoping for that overwhelming return. Which we all can only dream of what it would mean at this deadline. These teams need to hurry up and overwhelm us with some deals!! These players need to make some flights for our game tonight

I think if the Rantanen deal happened earlier this morning/last night. I don't have any doubts that Rak would be gone by now. Hopefully teams are scrambling (including Carolina).

I think compete in 26-27 is a reasonable goal for the reasons I stated yesterday. But that's just starting to compete, I hope we are able to build up from there. And Rak is a depreciating asset at that point. Whether you get futures to keep or flip, I think they're best selling on him now.

Apparently things are quieting down phone wise. I do wonder if that is it. Which is a little disappointing. We landed a good haul overall. I am still keeping my fingers crossed for some last minute deals.

I think we plan on resigning Grz if he isn't traded today

If Schenn got us a 2nd and 4th surely Gryz can get that or better....I hope this isnt Sully preventing it in any way
