It will be interesting to see Palms contract, but unless it's ridiculously in the Isles favor he should've been traded.
The Isles need fresh leadership. - JimmyP
Doesn’t matter what it is. It’s a stupid contract. |

Maybe his return wasn’t worth trading. I’m ok with him finishing the season on the Islanders. |

This guy looks at this team as a buyer at the draft. Just a couple tweaks and poof we’re a Stanley cup contender. Book it. |

Problem is when has Lou shown he can make multiple moves in the offseason? Does not matter there is 7 months until the start of a new season. You almost have to hope the team tanks and it forces L&M to remove Lou. |

Another stab at the wild card spot next season. |

Extremely disappointing. Lou is beyond finished. 4 more players should have been moved even if it was for picks and or prospects. This group is not a couple of players away from competing in the playoffs, and now they will just be a year older and slower. Lou was great in the beginning for a turnaround, but unfortunately his style is all or nothing and now we have barely any prospects worth talking about and an aged slow roster of mediocrity. It's going to be tough sledding and I do not see them adding to the top six without over paying so the cycle continues. |

Owners just want a chance at two home playoff games, and they are good. |

Palms would have easily gotten a 2nd, maybe two 2nds or even a 1st. There are plenty of pending UFA’s that could be signed in offseason to replace him. Not all will be available, but I’m sure he could be replaced.

I do not like Lou's chances being able to sign quality UFA's. Signing Leo type players is his speed. The Islander may be even less attractive to UFA's this offseason. I would even take JT back for a year just for the drama and for some excitement. |

Now that the dust settled I think the most interesting take from the deadline was that if Lou’s true goal was to squeeze into the playoffs why not add with Barzal on LTIR. He didn’t buy or sell really. Nelson was only traded because he rejected the extension. In essence Lou stood stagnant, with the worst special teams in the league. I just don’t see how that is acceptable by ownership. |

One thing I’m sure of is Palmieri’s agent has all the leverage he could’ve ever hoped for right now. |

I suspect it will be.
I've posted my thoughts on this several times. Yesterday should have been a fire sale and the Isles should be sitting on a bunch of picks and prospects right now. Instead Lou did more or less nothing. He only sold what he was forced to sell. I don't understand the strategy. This team isn't going anywhere. They are stuck in limbo.

The strangest thing is the owners seem fine with this. Might as well still be at the Coli if this is how the team will be run.

Strategy is to go for it no matter what. If we suck it doesn’t matter. Just go for it. Palmieri will get better with age. He is a fine wine. Smart stuff. |

This inspires me. I'm going to liquidate all my assets, go to Vegas and put it all on a single spin of the roulette wheel. I'm gonna be stupid rich!

We just need to get in anything can happen. As fans this should inspire us to spend buckets of cash to support this team. When we suck arse out of the gates next season UBS will be even emptier. Or Lou will trade everything we have at the draft and we’ll be mediocre. Can’t wait. |

Brock should do well with the Avs, but the real test is if he can get it done in the playoffs.

Guy has played well in the playoffs for us over the years. Who knows how that’ll translate to the Avs but I hope he does well for them. Wish him nothing but the best guy was a great Islander.
Wish I were saying the same for Palmieri and others right now. |

He was a great Islander. I’ll root for him. He had a great first period with Avs. Even threw a couple hits. He looked great. |
