Personally, I think Zegras isn't very good. His goofy TikTok tricks with the puck are fun to watch but he's not a particularly great player. I think he's the new-age version of Rob Schremp. He's still young and is obviously talented and has a lot of runway left to round out his game, but so far I'm unimpressed with him as a player. The michigan's and other stuff are fun to watch but don't mean much to me.

Yeah I get what you're saying but the team he played on was pretty bad so he may benefit from a better lineup around him. ( but are The flyers better ????) I think a more deciplined defensive structure will help his game as well. Still young and certainly has talent so they may regret this in a couple years.
These are the decisions that keep GM's up at night.
Still think the return for him was too low.

#Isles Mathieu Darche, when asked about Chris Lamoriello/Stephen Pellegrini:
"I've really enjoyed working with them [...] I brought in Ryan (Bowness) because I felt we had a gap there in the in player personnel, so that's why I brought him in right away."

#Isles GM Mathieu Darche wants to sign all his RFAs, including Noah Dobson. But with three days until draft night, it feels like anything could happen.
No comment on either, just passing along! Also, looks like Darche will have more to say at 4:

Is this like assistant to the regional manager? - JimmyP
From Darche:
Sounds almost like an internship
Jokes aside, they'll probably have him sample a little bit of everything and see if he takes to any one thing in particular and maybe there's a long-term career there for him in the future.
Martin is going to be the guy who tells Chris Lamoriello to get everyone lunch. - kindlyrick
I would prefer Chris Lamoriello entered a board room to Matt Martin sitting there cracking his knuckles and "suggesting" that he tender his resignation immediately

Jokes aside, I do believe there is something to that. The organization got somewhat screwed over by Lou on his way out the door. Darche has shown he likes character guys, as seen by his recent hires, so it’s not surprising they are grooming Martin. It’s also a lot easier for Darche to send Martin out to do his dirty work, with all that he has on his plate. I don’t think it’s common place for a GM to extend a coaching staff after that big of a failed season, and Darche got stuck with the son of the previous GM. That’s gotta be awkward…..enter Matt Martin. Lol
Isles are going to be getting an incredible person in addition to an incredible hockey player

Great watch, thanks for sharing. This kid is mature for his age. Big fan of his dad too….you can tell he comes from good stock. I’m very excited for the isles to draft their best dman since D Potvin

Spot on with the Rob Shremp comparison - kindlyrick
Maybe he figures it out playing for a bigger franchise with a better coach (although I have concerns he'll mesh well with Tocchet). But so far, I'm unimpressed with him. He may be a guy that always gets his points, but I'm not sure he's well-rounded enough to ever be a real star. Maybe he tops out at "Mike Ribeiro".

Maybe the Oilers should give the best player in the league a goaltender. How many years has their netminder been their weakness?

I dislike that kinda showboat hockey. I prefer watching someone at the end of their shift put their head down and battle back to the D zone than see a Michigan move.
Sounds like they are very much in the market for one this offseason, among the Flyers and another team or two. - Gabe Athaus
I hope for their sake they do. Two years in a row I watched the Oilers in the finals with back up goaltending. After seeing McDavids comments after the loss they gotta improve that weakness or he’s leaving.
