Tough loss. They got mixed up on the coverage and I think Hogberg was a bit too far over/off his angle. Another win given away in the final seconds. |

I think Lou has done a very good job this year with the injuries and bringing in players for free to carry positions. Also getting Tsypy and DuClair were good pick ups. Also I think the assets he gained with the Nelson trade are solid.
He may give the GM job to someone else in the off season in my opinion.
Wonder who you would like as the next GM? - nyisles7
This is the million-dollar question. The questions are who's available and who makes the most sense. I have honestly thought about Roy as the GM. Let him clean house and give his assistant the head job and bring in fresh assistants.
This way you have a person in place familiar with the foundation of the team and its assets. You know he wants to make changes and is not afraid to buck the system. Plus, he is still not that far removed from the major junior level and the pulse of the young players.
I know some think he is mid. However, like Trots I think he is getting the most out of a crap lineup. There are maybe 5 players that would be a top line, top d pairing, and top goalie. Everyone is a third liner at best.
Unless can make a deal with NJ and bring Tommy Fitz over.

Why would you ever want new assistants? John Maclean has done a wonderful job. Lou wouldn’t let someone stay who wasn’t pulling their weight. 😆 |

For me personally I would like a former player who was on that next level and was a true winner “like” Messier, Nick Lidstrom or Scott Niedermeyer. Whoever it is, the priority should be fielding a legitimate first line which subsequently would improve the PP. I think having a GM who was a proven winner and respected will help lure UFAs. I feel like Lou is very set in his ways and today’s player doesn’t wanna deal with his rules (imo). |

No more Boston people. We need Canada people like Bill Torrey and Patrick. |

Crazy but I can’t like my dislike for Messier go. Would never accept him as our GM. 😆 |

Same and he would never…..but I only referenced him as that winning former player. I’m with you. Still despise him.
Maybe Pat Lafontaine is an option? |

He was drafted in 2024 and signed his entry level. Seems standard. Bridgeport needs to be addressed. They’ve sucked for too long.
Edit : just watched clips of him and he’s huge with great hands. Slow feet though. If he can work on the foot speed they could have a steal. |

Guy never got enough recognition for being a dirty player. He speared people like he was trying to kill them. Have respect for what he accomplished the dude was an absolute animal. Just can’t let the hate go none the less. 😆
I’ll add the year the Rangers won the cup was some of the best playoffs I’ve ever seen. We got annihilated but the rest of the series were incredible. Them winning the cup of course detracted from that. |

I cannot see Pat after what happened with Buffalo and the Islanders. I would give it to Patrick and if not Patrick, maybe a chief scout from a team like Dallas or Colorado. |

Yeah Messier was dirty. Different game then, but the elbows up going into the boards was pretty dirty. Ha |

Fasching is ill, Roy says, so Boqvist, normally a D, will play in his spot in the third line

In case there was any doubt, that tells you all you need to know about Roy's opinion of Matt Martin's game at this point in his career.

I don't think anyone's opinion of Matt Martin's game is going to differ from Roy's at this point. Love the guy but he shouldn't be in the lineup unless there are multiple injuries/illnesses |

If and when the Islanders are eliminated from the playoffs, they should hold a Matt Martin Day for him, and let him play the remainder of the season. It can only help their draft position. lol
By the way, it also doesn't say much for the forwards at Bridgeport that none of them are called up instead of playing a d-man at forward.

How is it possible there is not a forward that can be called up?

It's like Islander GM's have it in their contract not to try to improve Bridgeport.
