To be fair, I think Patrick coached Duclair in Juniors and may have wanted Lou to sign him. I think there is no question that Patrick does not agree with a lot that Lou has done. The owners are very foolish is they do not make a GM change. How do you even argue against it at this point?
- ses111

Regardless of Roy’s past with Duclair. I think we saw Lou fail to lure top UFAs every July 1st since he came here (including Tavares). The Duclair signing to me was desperation to add a heartbeat who could score 20. It reminds me of the isles missing on Drury and Gomez and then signed Comrie, Guerin, Fedotenko, Sims and maybe another…..hoping the 4 signees would equate to the 2 lost UFAs

Crazy how a few weeks ago Lou was going for it with this roster and refused to sell assets not named Brock Nelson. He believed the isles had a shot….and yet they’re without the pts of Barzal, Nelson and now Duclair. That’s half your top 6 pts gone…..but we’re still going for it???

It wasn’t so long ago there were some on here saying Duclair was going to be super impactful for this team. Guess they were right.

Tail between my legs….guilty as charged. I thought he had talent, but I guess there really was a reason why he’s bounced around so frequently. 6 of the 9 teams he played for were only a year stint. Try getting a job in the real world with that much turnover. Lol

Would you be incredibly surprised if the only one to depart is Roy? "He refused to use the roster I provided him!" Everything you wrote can be excused with that one neat trick.
- UIF

Would not be a surprise at all UIF. GM's have more access to the owners and can BS the owners. Especially these owners.

Duclair has talent. Just not first line talent and he also has a lot of flaws.

This organization is officially a mess again.

I hope the ones who liked and pushed the status quo because we were good 3 years ago are happy because anyone could have seen this coming.

You either keep Nelson and “go for it” or you sell anyone you can. They should have sold anyone they can because if it wasn’t for these wild card teams sucking, we wouldn’t even be close to being in a “playoff race.”

What was done here falls in line with everything else around here since 2021.

The NHL system with everyone in the playoff hunt is not an accomplishment.

And, from what I’ve read, Bettman has talked about pulling the All-Star game from UBS next season in favor of a 4 Nations tournament again. Why pull it completely from here if even they think we’re not a mess.

I'm glad Lou did not go for it. Islanders should only sign UFA's to 1- or 2-year deals to buy time for the prospects to be ready and Lee and JGP among others should be moved.

They are not doing a Four Nations again ever, as of now. They're talking about not doing the ASG at UBS because fans, across all sports, objectively hate them and they're a waste of time.

They're considering revamping it and doing something else and possibly postponing it while they figure it out. But next year is the Olympics, so there definitely will not be a Four Nations tournament directly before players go to Italy.

If you could only keep five and the rest give moved who would yours be?

Sorokin, Romanov, Horvat, DeAngelo, (either Barzal or Dober) leaning toward Dober.

Dobson is frustrating as heck. Maybe we can move Barzal for Bedard?

Since when has Lou wanted scores in the forward unit? Outside of Bo, no sure fire top 6 forwards brought in. Patrick is right about dmen needing to be able to move the puck to help the offense.

If Lou and Patrick both have to go, so be it.

Sounds like Lou is expected back next year. At this stage it seems more doubtful that Roy will be. I'd bet we'll get a 'both parties have mutually agreed to part' at the end of the year. Lou will then search for someone who aligns with his mid 90s philosophy
We're stuck in neutral

Disgraceful if Lou gets to fire another coach. What decent coach would want to work for this guy and this roster?

Basing it off of Staple's comment where he seems to say with certainty:
"Lamoriello, who turns 83 in October, is also likely sticking around for at least another year...."

This is not the first time I've heard this. The belief is that ownership will continue to entrust the franchise to Lou and stay out of his way

I didn't see that. It wouldn't surprise me, as much as I think it's completely the wrong thing to do.

Luckily Staple's been wrong before. Maybe L&M have a bet going to see how long it takes us to put up another billboard.
