Then, 30 years ago, on April 5, 1995, GM Don Maloney made a trade that made my stomach turn. He traded Turgeon and defenseman Vladimir Malakhov to the Montreal Canadiens for Habs' captain Kirk Muller, defenseman Matthieu Schneider, and forward Craig Darby.

Hands down one of the top five (5) worst Islander trades ever made.

😆

Definitely one of the worst. Best was when Muller didn’t want to report to the islanders. Than his career went in the poopter shortly after. (frank) that guy. 😆

Well than he needs to stop signing players to crappy contracts and he will won't be embarrassed. GM's always complain about contract amounts and lengths. Yet they are the ones that drive the market. Set the bar. If they all held their ground, things would be much more reasonable. However, you add in Owners that do not care and want what they want. Then Bingo! You have a crappy contract that just set the bar for the next guy.

Lou only showed self control on the Robin contract offer.

Why on earth did they hire a Ranger. So dumb. Then he went a blew up a strong 93 team. He traded away my favorite player as a kid - Steve Thomas. I'll hate Maloney forever.

Happy Sunday morning!!! Game time in 4 hrs. The way Islanders season has been going we will probably see history today. It will probably come in the form of giving up a league leading first goal of the game.

This one time I wish I had season tickets. Not necessarily to watch the game live but to make some money back as the ticket prices for today's game are off the charts.

Anyway, I was look at stats. I noticed every team in LEAGUE has at least one point producer higher than the Isles. The Isles sit 32nd in this category and Horvat sit 97th overall in the league in total points.

News flash you ain't winner crappola with that type of stat. Zero chance. The fact that the team is not mathematically out of it already is a testament to Roy. Say what you want about his body of work, compare him to Trotz, but this guy has been given a sh!t sandwich in the form of a kangaroo straight of a line. Add in the injuries. I think Roy has done a solid job.

If management and Lou look to use Roy as the scapegoat. Then this team is no better than Snow and weight were in charge.

To me after getting through the last games of the season. My focus is on what can I move at the draft and try and setup for free agency.

Rant over.

Al Arbour and Scotty Bowman both coaching this team at the same time could not do much with this roster. Barry was a much better coach then Patrick but still had the better roster. Outside the two ECF's, it was a struggle for Barry with this roster and the Islanders were not dominating the league. I do not agree with Roy's pulling the goalie early, but he still understands today's game much more than Lou. If Patrick needs to go, so does Lou. Would be the ultimate embarrassment for Lou to stay on.

Patrick does not need to go. What Patrick needs is the ability to select his own coaching staff and have input on the types of players needed for his plan to be successful.

This team is not built to Roy's style. It was built more to Trot's, that is why he was more successful.

There is no path that I see where Lou is to be given more time with this team. He has run his course. Because of this I can see Patrick moving on. The GM will want their own people in place. However, I still think Patrick should be given another season and not fired at the end of this one.

Sadly, as my thoughts progress through this response, I realize that Lou has a quick trigger finger and will probably use Roy as a scapegoat along with injuries. Telling ownership. Look how close we came with what we had to deal with. If I can keep this together one more year with everyone healthy, we truly have something here.

This were I get pissed off. 60 minutes to OVIE and the record.

On that topic if anyone were to break the record, I am glad it is Ovie. I have a lot of respect for him. Hopefully he did not give Sorokin any rubbles to slow the reaction time.

I think Hask is wrong in this article. Just because a person is a sports figure does not require one's view on world affairs. Yes, athletes use their platforms to bring awareness, support, and aid. However, I do not think it is required of an athlete to do so.

Let be clear, I do not think what Hask is doing is wrong. He is using his influence to bring awareness. I think him calling out the NHL, and OVIE is wrong.

I agree Patrick does not need to go, but Lou will throw him under the bus to save his own job. Coaches should get to pick their assistants and pick the line up. Case closed.

This team is not built for today's NHL. It's clearly a roster problem and not a coaching problem. Everything my fans have predicted has happened with this team. It does not take Carnac to see what would happen.

Lou has always had a quick trigger. Let Lou coach this team if the roster is fine.

Something seems off with Ovie. I'm not thrilled he will be breaking the record, but the Islanders are the much bigger issue right now.

It's not natural for players like Ovie or Lebron to be this good at their age. The record would have been Bossy anyway without the bad back.

So this genius thinks the NHL should determine whether a player plays or not depending on his political stance or opinion? GTFOH

I wish people would understand that people don't want politics shoved down their throat all the time. It doesn't have any place in sports. Just leave me the fack alone and let me watch the games in piece.

Bossy was hands down the best pure goal scorer the league has seen. Ovie is a year younger than the Great One and did it in the same number of games. I have no issue with Ovie taking over the record. If anyone was to do it, I am happy it was him.

I have to agree Jimmy. I think doing the whole ceremony during the middle of the second period was bizarre. I could accept a huge ceremony after the game.

Learned today that kash patel is an isles fan. thats is kool.
