Bossy was hands down the best pure goal scorer the league has seen. Ovie is a year younger than the Great One and did it in the same number of games. I have no issue with Ovie taking over the record. If anyone was to do it, I am happy it was him. - Nfdbulldawg
This is bullpoop. Couldn't they do this after the game? - JimmyP
It's definitely a fair opinion, but I was there and I had no problem with it. It was absolutely incredible to be there in person to witness that. I may not have chosen the mid-period ceremony if I was given the option, but it didn't really bother me either. It was cool to hear Gretzky speak and they did a good job keeping it relatively brief. I can't blame the league for marketing a massive accomplishment for one of their biggest-ever stars.

Do we also really want to get back to an Islander game?

That too. I didn't care too much about the actual game yesterday, I just wanted to witness history. It was great to see Gatcomb pop two in though, feel a little bad for him that Ovechkin was the only star named He's been a really great find so far, I hope he can keep his momentum going forward into next season and not plateau a little like MacLean did.

Gatcomb should wear a "I outscored Ovechkin that day" t-shirt every day for the rest of his life.

Gatcomb has been good. Too bad we could not find these types of players earlier.

I had no issue with the ceremony. It's a big deal and deserved to be treated like one. I just didn't like stopping the game for that long.
