Right or wrong it could happen. - Nfdbulldawg
I think he wanted to drop the GM title and his son to jump in but Ownership wasn’t going there so ties were broken.
Depends on who Collin’s picks for GM and if they are willing to keep Roy. |

Ha. I must say while i thought it would happen, seeing it in writing had me do a double take.
I hope the new president/GM cleans house. All coaches are on notice. Curious who’s the new rumored GM |

Well we might actually get some rumors about the Islanders now that Lou's information lockdown is gone.
I would say all the players are on notice too, as well as coaches and hockey ops staff.
Ideally the next GM will be someone with a proven track record of drafting well and an understanding of how the best teams in the league were built and where the Islanders are at now and in the short-term future. Hopefully not one of the many "good hockey man" retreads that seem to keep getting hired for some reason. Young, forward-thinking, modern-day GM. |

As the Islanders move on from the massive experience of Lou Lamoriello, it will be interesting to see the list John Collins puts together. Ken Holland is eager to work again, but has made it clear he wouldn’t take someone’s job…there has to be a vacancy. Big opening now.
This would be a good example of who not to hire |

The drafting and special teams must be priority.

Not Ken Holland or Jarmo Kekalainen.
I don't pretend to know exactly who the best candidates are, but if the search were up to me I'd be starting with AGM's from teams like Dallas/Tampa/Carolina/Florida (among others) who regularly draft well outside of the first round and have built teams that are perennial contenders. |

Yep! Look to the chief scouts of those teams and AGM. |

Interesting thought. They certainly have been on the top of their curves the last few years. Typically teams go through highs and lows.
Not easy to stay on top especially with the cap.
Honestly I like what Gorton and Davidson did with the Rags. |

Find the guy who found Zetterberg and Lidstrom for the Red Wings. Hire that European scout lol |

Gorton has done an excellent job in Montreal and was building something good with the Rangers until Dolan Dolan'd. Letting him go was exceptionally dumb on their part.
Someone like him would be a great hire. |

If they go younger with the GM, I wouldn't be totally surprised to see an older guy with experience brought in as a President either. Not totally against one of those guys in a role like that, provided he doesn't run the Islanders the way Lamoriello was running them at the end of his tenure. |

No issue with a vet president as long as they do not interfere with the GM. Just be a mentor to the GM. |
