Could he be a choice?

Peter Chiarelli – Former GM of the Boston Bruins and Edmonton Oilers, Chiarelli has a Stanley Cup on his resume and could be considered for a return to a GM position

I think they meant that the owners asked around the league and Lou was the recommendation that they kept getting. Not that they asked Bettman & Co. for their pick
- Gabe Athaus

Don't know, but I always had the impression that Malkin/Ledecky indeed asked Bettman for a recommendation for GM/Prez of hockey ops. Being new it would make sense for them to ask for a neutral opinion rather than a biased one that one might get from asking "around the league." Again, just my hunch....

Please no asking Bettman anything.

In terms of the next GM, I wouldn't be shocked if Bill Guerin emerges as a front runner. Brett Peterson would be another. Both obviously heavily connected with the US Hockey teams and have had hands in building decent teams

Bill Guerin is already the GM of Minnesota, I don't think he's going anywhere

Good choices for sure. What are their current contracts if any?
What about Eric Tulsky AGM from Carolina and Paul Krepelka AGM
of the Panthers? If you’re looking for fresh new faces they may be targeted.

I'm sure a short-list will emerge soon enough, very interested to follow all this though. Offseason just got 1000x more interesting.

I was going to mention Krepelka but went eith Petterson because I think it would be a positive media choice for them, which the team could use. Plus he had a decent hand in building the Panthers as well

Hopefully we will find a GM now that actually works during the offseason.

You would think the firing of a HOF GM would result in our first new blog since MARCH 7th....

if they'd let me, I'd write incendiary rage bait articles making fun of every team that the islanders play all season for maximum traffic

Newsday has Rob Blake, Gregory Campbell, Mathieu Darche, Jeff Gorton, and Don Sweeney as possible replacements. Maybe they should hire Campbell so his dad can stop his Islanders hate.

I like Darche out of that list from Tampa.

That would be funny/ironic for sure. What has young Campbell done to merit consideration?

Campbell was an assistant to Bill Zito in Florida and an AHL GM since 2021 and worked as player development for the Blue Jackets.
