My question to the group is do you trust Collins to make those decisions. The reason I ask that on another board people are losing their minds. They believe Collins is not qualified to make the decision. Some have pointed to the firing of the radio crew.

As for me the firing of the radio is what it is. Isles radio has been a joke for years. I have a feeling that they are going to stream the games via the internet. It won't cost them anything. Or we could listen to the oppositions station.

Anyway, I have no issue with Collins deciding things.

He was COO of the NHL. I trust him looking for the next GM. But I honestly believe Malkin and Ledecky are involved in the final decision as well. I think Malkin pulled the trigger on Lou going.

There are some players on this list that are worthy of an offer sheet. They would fit into the Isles core. The question is if it was offered would they take it. The layers I was looking at were from Toronto and Anaheim.

He destroyed the presidents trophy cup team in a year. Disastrously active I would call it. HE SUCKS!
- nyisles7

Yeah I don’t judge him by one failed season. 3 in a row is a different story. But he broke them down and built them back up. He’s acquired top tier assets and when it wasn’t working he wasn’t afraid to break it down. Do you think Drury wasnt trading Palmieri or addressing the disastrous special teams 3 years in a row?

Hickey is great on the broadcast. He seems extremely knowledgeable and articulate.

They can't offer sheet anyone if it would involve a 2nd round pick. The Blackhawks have their 2nd round pick in 2026 from the Bailey contract dump.

Anyone who doesn't trust the ownership group because they axed the radio broadcast team is off their rocker

I feel bad they lost their job. Still cannot judge the owners on this.

Contract extension for NYR GM Chris Drury should amplify speculation that AGM Ryan Martin could leave for a GM job at some point.

Already heard from a source yesterday that a Ken Holland (pres) and Ryan Martin (GM) combo should be considered for Islanders’ front office.

IMO, the Islanders will follow the Flyers' model of president + GM. Franchise has a lot of heavy lifting to do on and off the ice. @JeffMarek
thinks my colleague Kevin Weekes lands a job this summer. I think he'd be a great ambassador for the Isles and knows the market.

I like the President + GM combo idea. Holland and Martin would be interesting. Holland as President instead of GM could work.

Kevin Weeks is extremely likable but I would prefer a person with experience in building a team.

Regarding the firing of the radio broadcast. The broadcast being on Hofstra radio is another example of Lou not being up to date. I didn’t realize that Lou had all say of marketing etc. The broadcast is potential untapped revenue that wasn’t being realized. Leaving the coliseum for a state of the art facility, only to keep a Hofstra broadcast is the opposite of success.

I don't mind Weekes being added to the front office in something like an AGM role, but I would agree that, with zero front office experience in his past, giving him the GM job would be a poor decision. Even with an experienced president overseeing things.

I think he sucks because he inherited a team rebuilt by JD and Gorton that was a contender. His trades to try to get them over the hump sucked and didn’t work.
His best move was getting Lavy as coach.
This year he absolutely poop on certain players on the team and dismantled a contender and President Trophy winning team to a non PO team.
That said I’m thrilled he was extended because I hate the (frank)ing Rags!

On Palms, he hasn’t signed a new contract or been traded yet so how is this bad if you don’t know the results. Unless you have inside info on it?

I’m not gonna debate Chris Drury.

As for Palmieri, my point was that you missed an opportunity to sell an asset on the high. Whether he stays or goes doesn’t change the missed sale.

Agreed Weeks could be a great asset. He seems to have good relationships with players being a former player. He could only help push this team to their goal of success.

He’s another one that I would lock up in some fashion. He knows the game and is able to communicate it which is even better. If I’m a new up and coming kid, I’d rather talk skating or breakouts with Thomas Hickey than the current director of player development Eric Cairns. Ha

Ownership better not take away our defunct arena-league football team mascot with absolutely zero relation to the Islanders. That's where I draw the line.
