What about Sparky?

Ownership better not take away our defunct arena-league football team mascot with absolutely zero relation to the Islanders. That's where I draw the line.
- Gabe Athaus

I'm kind of surprised that Lou didn't look at Sparky and say "What the fack is this?" and then fire him.

Come on Jimmy. Lou was busy fixing the scouting and the roster.

Hearing Kate Madigan, the #NJDevils assistant GM since 2022, will get a chance to interview for #Isles GM job.

- Gabe Athaus

There is nothing wrong with thinking outside the box. That being said, I do not know enough about her work.

I like the President + GM combo idea. Holland and Martin would be interesting. Holland as President instead of GM could work.

I think it is important to have checks and balances. Think the isles should be not only be looking at the most qualified but the person that can take them beyond the present.

I’m not gonna debate Chris Drury.

As for Palmieri, my point was that you missed an opportunity to sell an asset on the high. Whether he stays or goes doesn’t change the missed sale.

He’s another one that I would lock up in some fashion. He knows the game and is able to communicate it which is even better. If I’m a new up and coming kid, I’d rather talk skating or breakouts with Thomas Hickey than the current director of player development Eric Cairns. Ha

He could be a future replacement for Butch.

Him being here(or not) is even more laughable now that Lou is gone.

That’s precisely my point. Now what? You kept him under the auspices that you wanted to re sign him. Now the GM is gone and Palmieri is in limbo. Not handled correctly.

I read a rumor that the owners knew they weren’t renewing Lou a few months ago. If that is the actual case why in gods name would they let him retain Palmieri. Isn’t rocket science. Keeping him was incredibly dumb.

Agree and I think he will be if some national network doesn’t steal him.

There is talk they wanted to make a move in December with Lou. Lou should have been told to trade Palms and other players at the deadline.

So you must have an inside on what they could have gotten/get for him and or what contract he may sign with the Isles?
That chapter on Palms isn’t closed.

I see Cpt is back posting. Must have been busy interviewing with Collin’s and Malkin for the GM position.

Because this is BS. They had a discussion with Lou after the season and Malkin decided to let him go.

That's what's going to happen with Brendan Burke for sure. Frankly I'm surprised he's still here.

As Gross mentions, Madigan has been the Devils' assistant GM since 2022 and has primarily been responsible for the team's drafting and development the past three season.

Interesting that these are her roles. These are the exact things the islanders need.

Im real happy we have an insider on this very thread to tell us what’s really going on with the Islanders. Now I’m totally fine with us throwing money at a depreciating player or losing him for nothing.

Lou’s parting gift.

I’m too old to engage with arguments for the sake of arguing. Praising Lou is homerish and this organization as a whole has hit a low that is indefensible.
It really boils down to 101 business. Your home is worth 500k. Someone offers you 750k for it and the obvious answer is you take the 750k and buy another 500k home, earning 250k. You don’t turn that down…..it’s the advantage of a volatile market….people pay up.
It seems that Lou was more focused on favoring the player than the organization.

Side note : Brock Nelson has yet to register a point in the playoffs.

Question #1. After going 0-21 on the PP in the playoffs, do you bring back MacLean?

Question # 2. At this years deadline, do you load up on picks and prospects, or do you stand pat?

Question # 3. After losing your franchise player to free agency, do you not sign an elite UFA to replace the 10.5 million you offered 91?

Question # 4. Do you put no beards and low jersey numbers as a priority over special teams?
