The last time there was an any kind of NHL event at an islander's arena was 1983. Over 42 years. While some would say I could care less. I ask would the NHL do something like this to the Boston's, Rangers, and or Penguins of the NHL? |

Definitely not. I’m sure with a new arena they’ll have to throw the isles a bone. Maybe they let the isles win the draft lottery? 👀 |

Great game last night. The Leafs will probably still win the series, but ya gotta love the Sens heart. There's no quit in that team. |

Since 2017 the leafs are 1-13 in series clinching games. That’s a putrid stat for the most expensive PP in the league. |

It probably won't happen, but I can dream. Even if it goes to game 7 those fans will be freaking out.

Matthew’s and Marner don’t have that dog in them. Leafs need to be honest with themselves. Even if they win this series, I don’t think they can compete with the leagues elite of Florida and or Dallas. I don’t put Matthew’s in the same sentence as McKinnon. |

Team kept the Core together way too long. Again, the money spent on JT was dumb when you have Matthews and the money could have spent to fill other holes. Team is soft and not build for playoff success. |

Agreed although ironically Tavares has been their best forward. I despise Mitch Marner…..when he side stepped the hit in the playoffs and didn’t make the play I was astounded. All that money and he didn’t take the hit…..loser. |

Listen, if that is the way they want to fix things. I will push my chips to the middle of the table.

Haha no doubt. Keep the All Star game, give us the first overall.
Isles have a 3.5 % chance to win the draft lottery. |

I'd be happy just getting in the top three and taking any of Schaefer/Misa/Hagens. That'd be a huge boon for the Isles and only accelerate the retooling. |

I’d be happy with a top three pick, I’m just not confident at the isles draft table. I’m hoping that’s retooled, although the draft is around the corner. It was all downhill after they selected Robert Nillson > Zach Parise. That was the start of the draft curse..
Edit : I’m sure there were other drafts beforehand that sucked before I get creamed with examples, like the Tim Connolly, Pyatt and Mezei draft in ‘99 at 5,8 and 10 overall |

Meh, the 1999 draft was terrible. Picks 1 and then 4-25 were effectively either total garbage or bottom of the lineup players. Havlat was picked at 26.
Schaefer, Misa, and Hagens will almost certainly be the top three picks so I'm willing to bet that if they have one of those selections they do the right thing. They'll still get a valuable player at 10/11/12 but those three have real talent. |

That was the Zetterberg draft with the 210th pick. lol Whoever found him for Detroit, hire his a$$
I hope the isles have a plan in place by then. I’d be pumped with a top 3 pick. A couple years of solid drafting and the isles prospect pool will be legit. |

I would imagine they sort out their hirings well before the draft, probably in the next 2-3 weeks. They'll want to get whoever(s) it is in there and going ASAP I'm sure. Even with a new GM/President I wouldn't expect them to stray too far from what they've done in the past since they are almost assuredly not going to wipe out the entire scouting department a month and a half before this year's draft. Certainly possible changes come after the fact or next season though. |

The isles have a scout named Gates Orlando. I’m fine with replacing him lol…..and Kenny Morrow, his brother Greg Morrow, Trent Klatt and the secret weapon of unearthing talent, Eric Boulton. |

The 1989 draft pick might have been their all-time worst. #2 overall was David Chysowski who never amounted to anything. I think it might have been Bill Torrey's first draft without the benefit of Jimmy Devellano.......who had been lured away by Detroit........and yes, probably deserves credit for finding Zetterberg in the 6th (?) round a decade later.

Dave Chysowksi…..lol forgot about him. I can forgive the franchise for a bust, but the isles are rife with em. Too many to name.

Islander drafts have not been the same since the dynasty days ended.
