Game 7 double OT! This is why hockey is the best. Unless it was the Isles and my heart was going to explode out of my chest.

There is nothing comparable to hockey playoffs in the major sports. The intensity, the drama, the speed, the gamesmanship. Then add into it being there live with sudden death OT! Nothing comes close.

Hockey is the best playoff sport. You really need to earn the championship.

Isaac Howard Fallout In Tampa Could Create Opportunity For Islanders.

Is this kid worth looking into?

- Nfdbulldawg

He won the Hobey Baker this year, he's for sure NHL-ready talent that can score. He'd absolutely be worth making a push for. But lots of teams will be after him also and he'd have to agree to sign here before we fork over a package of assets to get his rights. Otherwise, if he does end up playing this NCAA season, he will be a free agent and can sign anywhere after next year.

Isles have a 3.5% chance to win the lottery. I think I read this is the first year they will draw the 4 ball combination for the 1st and 2nd picks live. I still believe the draft order should be based off standings, but if you’re gonna do it this way, it should all be live.

The lottery not being live has been a (relatively) big complaint over the years and it's good they're doing it live this year. No reason not to and it will shut up the conspiracy theorist nut jobs.

No reason not to is the bottom line. I don’t think it’s crazy to think the closed door drawing of the first and second picks lends itself to malfeasance. I know where you stand on that but unless it’s live and out in the open, you can’t say there’s zero percent wrong doing.

Serious question but if Lou’s contract isn’t being renewed, who’s checking in on this kids availability?

Yeah I don’t think anyone is a nut job for doubting the NHL’s lottery system since it’s been in place. The mathematical odds for some of the sh!t that’s happened over the years validates questioning it.

Agreed. But now, it will be live and I’ll shut up about it lol. I would love to see the isles move up and be able to snag a top 3 pick.

Odds say that’s not going to happen but we can hope we get some luck for once.

This is a good question. I'm hoping the hiring does not take too long. The Islander having the need will hopefully give them a good chance on this player.

I assume nobody. Sounds like they will look to hire a President first and then let him make the GM hire (if he doesn't do both jobs). They probably want to get that done sooner than later so I wouldn't be surprised if we hear who it is soon. Most of the smoke seems to be around Bergevin, not to say that makes him any sort of lock, and I would hope he hires a guy like Darche to step in as the GM.

The thing is, Lou wasn’t fired, they’re just not renewing his contract. So technically he’s still under contract. Can they hire someone else while he’s still under contract?

The isles could finally be leaving the New England staffing agency for a French Canadian one. I’ll take it.

I don't hate Bergevin, but just have an unfounded gut feeling that he'd be better as the president only than also doing the GM duties. He had mixed results in MTL.

Highly unlikely yes, but so was Edmonton winning the lottery 4 outta 6 years, when they couldn’t sign anyone, and were financially struggling. I think I read they wouldn’t meet Cryin Ryan Smyths 2007 demand of 5.5 million instead only offering 5.3 million. That’s not a big difference and it started the suck for them. Fast forward a few years, and voila, here’s 4 first overalls in 6 yeas for a storied franchise that risked moving.

I agree. I'd rather Bergevin be a President type than GM. I still like Brisson as President with his contacts and the rep he would have with players.

Yeah like I said we’re due for some luck. We’ll see if it’s this time around. Wish they still did the lottery under cover of darkness maybe we would have a better chance after losing the ASG? 😉 😂

Darche would be my pick for GM. I want the President to be a check, but hopefully he would not micromanage.

I don't dislike the idea of Brisson in that role either. He may have a great deal of insight into what specifically free agents don't seem to like about Long Island.
