In looking at the potential draft selections. They have the Islanders selecting Schaefer at #1 and they have Utah selecting Hagens at #4.
I personally think that Utah's pick good be in play. They are looking more at a playoff run then a building process. What do you think it would take to make a deal with them. Is it a #1 next year with a player attached?
Think about being the new GM of the Isles getting the first overall pick. Taking Schaefer and then possibly the ability to land a long island kid that is not only a top talent but an islander fan. We would then be talking about putting his/her statue next Arbour and Torrey's.
The future core would then look like:
Ritchie, Eiserman, Hagens, Nelson, Finely, Bednarik (If no luck with Hagens maybe Howard)
Schaefer, George, Odelius, Pulkkinen
Add these kids to current mix within the next two years and things are turning around.

If the isles decide to take Schaefer first overall. I believe they have the assets to trade for this years 4th if hagens is available. After all he does play with Eiserman. |

Confirmed: the door has opened for Mathieu Darche to prove he’s the person to run the #Isles.
As I said at the outset, you want the people who win the process — who demonstrate the vision to build a contender. Good to see Darche get his opportunity soon.
Whether it’s Darche or someone else in his category, NYI could use a leader with fresh ideas instead of the same ol’ stuff. |

Could not agree more. Holland type is not needed. I'll take Blake as President if I have to and Darche as GM.

Adding Hagens as well would be nice, but I would not go overboard trying to make it happen. 2026 is a much deeper draft.

Well, hold on a second, Botta...Charles Wang was full of "fresh ideas instead of the same ol' stuff" and that wasn't exactly a golden age
I think it depends greatly on what those fresh ideas are! |

I’m happy to read that they are looking outside the box and potentially going with young talent vs the old veteran. Ironically it’s sort of a microcosm of the isles. Hiring a veteran solely because of his past is what failed with Lou. I really hope they give Darche a shot, because a guy like him is hungry to build his name and not stand pat and “believe in this roster” year after failed year. |

I'm much more inclined to trust the fresh ideas of one of the architect's of a team that went to three straight Cup finals and won two of them than I am of the crooked software company CEO with zero hockey experience |

I think I would like to see him have an experienced guy at the president position, but that's more to just take whatever non-roster-related business there is off Darche's plate and be a sounding board than anything. |

I agree. Just rather it not be Holland. Hopefully someone like Bergevin.

I just hope that they get this all figured out and wrapped up sooner than later. Lots of work to do with a decision coming up that will alter the course of this franchise for the next 20 years |

Hopefully by next week. Hopefully someone that will not add more bad contracts.

TVA SPORTS: Vincent Duquette listed 10 possible trade targets for the Canadiens to address their need for a second-line center, examining the pros and cons of each player.
Bo Horvat and Mathew Barzal of the New York Islanders top his list, followed by Nashville’s Ryan O’Reilly, Minnesota’s Marco Rossi and Anaheim’s Trevor Zegras.
Our first line players are viewed as second line players on this team. What does that tell you. |

This is what I’m afraid of. Lou staying on in advisory role… - streaks
I was about to post the same thing. This would most certainly make it more difficult to bring a new GM in. Additionally, I could totally see Hagens being a value for Lou, who loves US born players. The sudden pivot to fan negativity would be brutal |
