Gotta wait 2 maybe even 3 years to make the pick so the at the very best this asset won’t be on NHL ice for 5 years at least.
The Konecny extension makes even less sense now.
These Comcast approved GMs have zero long term plan. Zero. - hereticpride
I was saying that years ago. Tk extension would be breaking point for me. Made zero sense from timeline approach to extend. |

Would it be a surprise to see Briere axe Torts after this year? New GMs in the NFL like to hire their own coaching staff when they take over. Perhaps another year with missing playoffs is the opportunity DB needs to find a new coach. - Sublime55
Now THAT would restore my faith in Danny. Ax Torts and bring in David Carle or someone similar. Flyers need a new fresh approach. |

I guess it’s good for the Flyers to make moves that make its former players happy. Yet something tells me free agents will still be chomping at the bit to sign with teams like the NYR and VGN (two teams that do not have great reputations for being kind when shipping their players)
That being said, kudos to Briere for getting a 3rd and a 1st for the draft that’s over 2 years from now. Perhaps these picks will have a chance to make an impact in 2030.
Hopefully they get a center for MM39 before he sours on the gold standard. - mikeyo27
Top end guys will get paid no matter where they go. So why would they choose the Flyers?
All the winning they have done recently? Them being a cup contender? All the talent they have on the team that will attract top players? Great coaching? A team on the rise?
Flyers management is very delusional. |

There's nothing left to do but rip the band aid off now. Fire Torts. Fire Briere. Fire Jones.
At this point they're just icing a team for the sake of icing a team. No plan. No future.
Just have to try something else. - Pelle31Forever
They have accomplished their goals this season already. They got their ticket sales and all that. Now is the time to ride out the last few drops of that nut like a good little soldier balls deep and prepare for the off season rhetoric. Pr team time to shine |

Of course, just trying to talk the realistic approach.
That’s the only carrot they can potentially dangle. |

CGY trade is fine. What do you expect to get for our garbage players? Its funny that our players are all garbage and no one would want them on their winning team but when one gets moved we expect the world back.
Farabee and Frost are no longer first round picks. The are 3rd line players right now. Only one has a sliver of potential to maybe a top 6 guy still. We got a 2nd, 3rd and reclamation project for both. Pelletier is literally in the same position frost was in being a former 1st bust. Not to mention Farabee had a hefty cap hit
It wasnt a win but it was a fair deal - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Classic case of overvaluing your team which is rampant on this board.
Other GM's and scouts watch the same games that we watch. How posters can still complain about not getting higher value for these players escapes me.
If I'm a GM, do I offer my first for both Frost and Farabee? No thanks. Too little talent and too much salary.
Briere has done a terrific job so far with what he was left with.

Torts doesn’t like him? - Dkos
Yea, he has been playing awesome for most of the year!! I’m surprised he wasn’t other team top defenseman trade deadline target!!
York may get a restricted free agent offer sheet this summer!!

The only saving grace is there seems to be a decent amount of centers ranked in the top 12 this draft and I don’t think Danny can even mess that up. I think.
This really should be the draft where Danny goes all in and gets a Center. We all know he whiffed last year. Can’t afford to kick the can any further down the road.
Not sure why people are defending the Calgary trade. Both players we traded away are better than anything we got back. |

They needed a legit franchise 1C prospect. They drafted Jett Luchanko. It was pretty decently reported they were trying to move up. They didn’t and missed out on the top tier center prospects. |

The 5 mil in cap space is more valuable than farabee. That was the real apple. DB basically said as much |

OK. I get that, but I'm not sure they had enough to move up and get Lindstrom at 4 or even Iginla at 6. I'm don't think there were any other 1C prospects out there unless you're expecting Catton or Helenius to fit the bill.
I heard they were trying to move up to get D1ckinson, but that was only rumors too. |

I mean I don’t see how they’d be good. They need too much and realistically what prospects are making the jump next year and what can we expect from them as rookies? So yeah, I agree. Next year does not look great.
Now if by some miracle they end up with a legit 1C center with some experience maybe things start clicking a bit and they make some noise but where is that guy going to come from this summer? Gotta hope a Cup favorite implodes in the first round and their GM is willing to do something drastic I guess. |

They are the only ones who see Luchanko as that guy. Every other ranking and scouting report Ive seen says he will be a middle six guy with not a lot of NHL level offense. I almost wonder if they could have taken him in the 2nd round at this point. The fact that he made the team out of camp was a publicity stunt IMO. He was overwhelmed in the last few games in the preseason and looked out of place in his regular season cup of tea.
I hope myself and everyone else is completely wrong about him. I would have rather they drafted Helenius if they were dead set on getting a center. Though I think they will regret passing on Buium for the next 15 years. Its a dead horse at this point. I can only root for him to become something more than Scott Laughton v2.

Oh it absolutely was. He had no business getting a shot yet and had anyone else drafted him he would’ve gone right back to junior.
I hope he pans out but at best I see him as an eventual 2nd liner. I personally don’t see top line upside at all. I think the Flyers knew they needed to come away with a center no matter what, got cute and thought their guy was going to fall to them and they had no good backup plans in place when BPA was so clearly a D man.

Jett looks to slot as a third line center who maybe could be second line if he reaches his full potential. If they’re able to find a 1st and 2nd line center, I have no problem with the Jett selection. |

I would not add to this team this summer or next. Anything substantial that is. They will have all kinds of cap space and a clearer picture of their prospects going into the ‘27 draft/summer. If I’m them that’s what I’d gear up for.

Jett would've never lasted until the second round. He was moving up the boards, not down. Buium was dropping, strangely though.
I would've rather taken a shot at D1ckinson at 11. They could've offered a better 1st but not a better 2nd than SJ.

How long does Briere get to turn this around? Summer of 2027 will be his 5th offseason.
Really hasn’t been any improvement since he took over. |
