Maybe that will help some lotto teams put up some points against them the rest of the way |

Bill said beginning of March, unless there was a major issue.
Guess they had a major issue. |

Why? So his soft brittle ego can hand out bans if you question him? He’s a mouthpiece for the team now. |

If you believe that the goal this year and last year was that the team is/was rebuilding the FO thinks that you are a fool. You bought into, you defend it, even though the fact pattern shows that their goal is/was to make the playoffs - corduroy
I definitely think the brass and Torts WANTED to make the playoffs last year and this year. I think that wasn't the state of mind they should be in. Don't need to use the word "tank" but Briere could have/should have moved players sooner and in higher numbers.
But it's not like they made a goalie move at the deadline last year....they traded their best defenseman instead. They didn't improve the WORST GOALTENDING in the league this year at the deadline...they finally moved Laughton and got assets for two dudes who didn't need to be here either. They moved two serviceable players and essentially have one question mark back from it and a 3rd round pick....so they were just clearing salary.
I agree, I wish they did more and more quickly. But just because they didn't do enough in your mind to warrant "a rebuild" doesn't mean they tried to improve to make the playoffs?

Unfortunately the start of every season, the objective is to win, nobody comes out of preseason and say i want to lose |

If they could have come to terms with walker he would still be here. They were counting on Ersson to grow not stagnate/regress -- a few meaningless moves to appease the kool-aid drinking "shoot" "hit him" "fight" fan base does not change the fact that the plan was to make the playoffs - not rebuild the team
I have to wonder if the kool-aid is laced with nicotine or something

what's the saying? "If 'If's' and 'Buts' were candy and nuts we'd all have a Merry Xmas".
your point about Walker is completely irrelevant because they DID trade him.
again, i'm not advocating for all the moves these guys did. they didn't do what I WOULD have done. but just because of that i'm not saying they are playing me a for a fool. anyone posting on this board more than likely watches/plays/coaches a lot of hockey.
they need to fire Torts (another mistake IMO to keep him at the HC position when Danny came in) and continue to gain assets, as they are. like I said, it really seems like they do have a plan in mind. 2026 seems to be the year to really start adding. look at the moves and money. remember, they didn't even know they would have Mitch yet last year.
I hate watching bullpoop, meaningless Flyers hockey. it sucks so much. but it doesn't help when people with conspiracy theory tendencies are trying to tell anyone "you're drinking the Kool-aid!!! they are playing you for a fool!".
i'm no fool...i'm just a bummed fan who loves hockey and wants to actually discuss it.

Buffalo with a big win. I can see a path to a top 4 pick. I still think buffalo and Seattle can catch Philly. Also think Pitt will win enough to move past them as well.

The Flyers are going to need a 10 game losing streak for all that to happen. Maybe if they luck out with a couple of injuries. |

Nashville is has a nice win streak going on and the next 2 games are definitely winnable for them.
Flyers have a path to a top 3 pick, its unlikely to happen but it is there.

I just want to get into the top 4. There at least gives you one of Schaefer, Misa, Martone or Hagens.
EDIT:
If I could get one of them.
Then with 2nd first rounder take Kashawn Aitcheson
Lastly first rounder i take BPA or maybe try to push that pick to 2026 with a trade. |

The way this dumpster fire is going, I wouldn't be surprised if DB decides that the rebuild is over and he trades our three 1st round and four 2nd round picks for some over the hill players and then tells everybody that the Flyers are back and that Torts is re-signed for 4 more years..... |

I really think the "big swing" he is going to try is to trade some of those picks for a Big fish. Don't ask me who that is. The UFA market is not every good and anyone he chooses to sign will be a Kevin Hayes type debacle.
So I think he has some targets in mind for trading some of those first rounders. I doubt he uses them all. I have no idea who he will be targeting. EP? I don't like that plan because it takes two to tango. Anyone have any guesses as to who he may target for a trade. I would imagine its a Center or top flight Dman. Then he will have to have the cap space to pay him.

I believe I heard on dailyfaceoff that DB commented on that things will start to come together in the 26-27 season.

If I was Briere maybe I would dangle a package for McTavish. I think you need to go RFA route preferably to the UFA route. Maybe you can use a piece like York as both are RFA's and need new deals.
If not McTavish I am not sure there is a ton out there that really fits or that won't be resigned by there own team. I mean it could be for naught as maybe he resigns in ANahaiem.
