Id blame the avs and the Carolina gm.
The avs told Carolina to keep everything on the downlow until rant got traded. They didnt want to ruffle any feathers with the avs players or rant.
Carolina should have walked away right there. I think had rant knew the avs were gonna move him and had Carolina been able to offer the big contract upfront, he may have been more inclined to sign.
But he was caught off guard by the trade and pissed about it.
I would blame avs and canes gm.
Also heard his agent wasnt sharing everything with him - Fakepartofme
The Hurricanes should not have traded for him without a signed extension.
No signature, no deal. |

lol
His agent told them he was open to signing in Raleigh because they didn't believe the Avs would actually trade him. Then they did and after a chaotic first few weeks Mikko dog-(frank)ed his way through the rest of his tenure. - BINGO!
Oh sorry didn't know "open to signing" meant he is going to sign 100% so please trade for me. |

I get your anger (This place would be insane if it had been the Leafs) but should you blame the player or your GM who has done this twice now?
I'm confused as to how he or his agent lied? Are you saying they told Carolina he was willing to sign an extension and then changed his mind? IF that was the case it's BS for sure but I also think he was likely shocked he got moved and the poor results in Carolina were directly impacted by that.
It's entirely possible I'm missing part of the story but I'd be surprised to hear he said he was willing to sign an extension in Carolina when he didn't even know he was being traded and got shocked when it happened. - Cush29
His agent told the Avs and Carolina that they were open to signing an extension there because they thought the trade threats were posturing and didn't take them seriously. They were shocked because they didn't believe Colorado would actually do it.
It would have been easier to swallow if he hadn't put in such a poor effort that the other players on the team asked management to get him out of there.

Marner had to play with Matthews....who is ok in the playoffs - Fakepartofme
Mac at 104
Rant at 101

He has a 31 team no go list - otherwise known as a NMC.
I guess 32 if you count the Marlies. - Atomic Wedgie
I think that’s the contract he just signed and that the one currently in place has a 9 team NTC |

No you are just clearly angry at Rantanen and taking it out on here.
I don't blame you...but your GM is the shmuck here. He took a risk and it did not pay off. |

you're probably right, but end of the day they got a bigger package for Rantanen than they ever would have gotten for a disgruntled Necas so whatever.
Took Jankowski all of 5 minutes of ice time to match Mikko's goal output in Raleigh.
So long and good riddance. |

On a completely unrelated note, if you want to watch a truly frightening documentary, Devil in the Family: the Fall of Ruby Franke is franking crazy.
It's on Disney+.
Episode I: starts out kinda normal, although you think the family is a little franked up, gets kinda dark at the end of the episode.
Episode II: OMG, what the frank?!??! This is crazy!
Episode III: I think I'm going to puke, this is so franked up. |

Rapid unscheduled disassembly? - Canada Cup
OMG, I can't believe you don't know what ddos is.
A DDoS attack targets websites and servers by disrupting network services in an attempt to exhaust an application’s resources. The perpetrators behind these attacks flood a site with errant traffic, resulting in poor website functionality or knocking it offline altogether. These types of attacks are on the rise.
DDoS attacks are wide-reaching, targeting all sorts of industries and company sizes worldwide. Certain industries, such as gaming, ecommerce, and telecommunications, are targeted more than others. DDoS attacks are some of the most common cyberthreats, and they can potentially compromise your business, online security, sales, and reputation.

It not about getting the best player it’s about the best fit and recipe to WIN in the Playoffs. If the Leafs sign Marner they guarantee no playoff success in the future, just a fancy dipsy doodle in regular season. ( see previous 8 or 9 years) ( and this year will be no different) Leafs could sign Two 15-20 goal warriors with size, for his money and be better off for it. This recipe has been proven to NOT work year after year after year after year…..
Be brave like Vegas and Florida and Tampa. Leafs Management needs to find a backbone to go in a different direction. Incidentally, those team have won cups recently. The unfortunate side to all this is that the UFA market is soft this year. Marner will want to fleece the Leafs for every nickel he can get, which I don’t understand! With the endorsements he can get playing for Canadas team there are not many, if any, teams he can play for and make this cash. So for me, between the lack of playoff success, the teams need for recipe change and Marners greed, having him on the Leafs is a crap direction to go. I am pleasantly surprised the Leafs swung for the fences on Rantanen! Better playoff performer than Marner and serious size to him! No Way is Marner worth the same $12mil AAV. |
