It's every other day with some of these guys, there's no GM in the NHL that would trade Quinn Hughes unless he asks to be/refuses to sign and were not there(except in fantasyland). It's just ridiculous.

I can't understand the mentality of not being satisfied with a top 5 player in the NHL being on the team you cheer for. Like even if the team isn't where you want it to be, losing him would deprive us of getting to watch so much good hockey

He's not the quality of player you can replace, so no matter what you're losing any trade. Just starting his prime too, he's 25 ffs and we trade him?! Total nonsense.

Ummm, this season has not been "good" hockey with or without Hughes.

I meant specifically getting to watch and cheer for him, I agree this team has mostly been painful to watch this year, but he is electric when he's out there.

It must be hard to find joy through misery maybe, cause watching Hughes is pretty damb enjoyable!

I don't find it that electric when the team is losing.
If you're satisfied with just enjoying watching one player then all the power to you, most enjoy watching a team game, a five man unit playing cohesively.

I agree watching the team play has been painful, but I have to agree that moving Hughes would be insanity, as soon as possible lock him up to the max term.

But that’s just me, not sure what the reasoning others have wanting to move are, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

I see no reason to move Hughes unless he asks.

Edit: Maybe build the team around him and not Pouty.

He’ll be Nightys next victim once Petey is gone.

Absolutely agree with that, wouldn’t surprise me if he was traded prior to his
NMC kicking in.

I would trade Hughes if someone well overpaid, or he made it clear he wasn't re-signing here. I wouldn't be shopping him for sure, and think the team is better with him. But if Chicago was Listerine-ing Bedard + this year's 1st... that opens up a lot of doors.

Something to think about, I get the fact Bédard plays for Chicago but -31, 5’10”, 185lbs, he would be crucified in Vancouver.
The only redeeming quality he has is he is Canadian, but that’s still isn’t enough to placate Canuck negativity.

I think the fact he's from Vancouver would placate some negativity, at least for a couple months

Could use that top 5 first to package for Power or equivalent young D, or even use the cap space to take a run at Ekblad.

Again, not that I think they should or will or any team is going to offer up anything even close to what he's worth... but everyone is tradable for the right overpayment.

Out of curiosity, how many small, soft players do you think are currently on the Canucks roster?

I count 4/5, if you include Hughes

I don't count Hughes.
Small & soft is anyone under 6' and under 200lbs.
Edit: the angry elf gets a pass.
