Id love to see what happens if makar plays with lindgren

I think there is a bit of flawed logic here. You are using Fox as a singular entity but measuring him against a pair. At present, the Rangers don't have a top pair because they need that second defensemen.

I think Fox is a top pair defensemen when paired with a suitable counterpart. For a short while, Lindgren was good enough. I don't think Fox is elite enough to carry a pair all by himself like Makar can, and I'm not sure anyone other than Makar can do that.

This is the most rational statement, with sound logic, on the topic of Fox.
Adding to this logic, when an entire team not playing well, then all stats, metrics play will be depressed. If you take a player's play in a vacuum, such as this Rangers team this year, you will have skewed perceptions and numbers. For some players, such as LAF, FOX, Trochek, it think this applies.

For players such as Zib, Lindgren, Trouba and some others. You don't have a vacuum situtation, you have multiple years of information to judge.

My idea of a top pair defensemen is the 2 guys you want out there with a minute left in a 1 goal game.

Fox isn’t that guy, and to be honest, we don’t have that guy.

Is fox paid as a top pair defenseman? Yes. Is he one? No. He’s an elite offensive dman, but he’s not a guy you want shutting down an opposing top line.

Staal and Girardi in their prime was a “top pair”. Put them out against Sid, Ovi etc and they’d do a damn good job at keeping them off the score sheet. If Fox was depended on to shut them down, we’d get shredded.

Leetch and Buekeboom were an elite top pair. Fox needs a Buekeboom type.

You cant go from best record in the league to battling for a playoff spot.

This is where my thought for trying to make a play for Big Z was going.

So we were President trophy winner a year ago, so where’s the blame, players got old?, coach lost his ability to coach, GM that follows hockey buzz is a possibility, what’s your thoughts

Who knows really? But right out the gate you saw that this team wasnt quite the same. Did the Goodrow stuff and the pending Trouba stuff really have such a big toll on the team that they mentally checked out?

Was there something so significant in the coaching during the off-season that was detrimental to the way the guys play?
