Huh
If Leafs win Atlantic and Washington wins Metro, they should have to cross over for Eastern semifinals 1 vs 2
Stupid nhl 😡
No wonder we always lose 😔 |

They need to go back to 1v8 with a reseed after each round.
This current format has absolutely sucked since day one. |

Leafs showed they were looking at moving Marner for another elite winger. With Rantanen gone, there really any in free agency and Leafs don’t have the trade assets to shop that way. If you can’t replace him that’s a big hole in our top 6.
So what’s the play with him gone? Gritty 3rd liners? Upgrade in D? - Canada Cup
Theres really no one to replace marner 1 for 1.
But maybe you spend the 13m on two players that could produce close to 100pts and bring a different style.
We'll see. |

Marner either becomes the highest paid Leaf (for the present) or he walks. It's pretty simple. He will have plenty of suitors ready to back up the bank truck. (GS5)

I don't know. Just tired of politics and wanna get back to talking hockey. I've tried being a Richard, being nice, and just being (frank)ing weird. Nothing works. Even if everyone stays on hockey for a few pages, some rando assclown who's not even a Leafs fan will drop in with a political troll post and several people take the bait and it's off to the races again. I even walked away from here once for about 2-3 years because of it. And honestly, I'm giving thought to the idea of just unplugging everything except for my business site and going out to touch grass a lot more often.
Maybe the internet as entertainment has run it's course after four decades. Sometimes it seems like it when you can't talk meteorites, fossils, telescopes, hockey, or anything else fun without politics (frank)ing ruining everything and then getting gaslighted about it when you point it out.
So yeah, the gay thing is just being juvenile. It's not meant as homophobic.

If Leafs were to go out early, they could let Mitch shop for his preferred team. Leafs could ask for a 1st rounder, allowing him to sign with his favourite place to go, before July 1st. He could then get an 8 year contract at his signing number. After that, use the money to acquire the best free agent defenseman and replace Rielly. Use him to get a top 6 winger in return. Although the winger won't be as good, the defenseman could make the team a better more cohesive unit.

Chychrun is set for unrestricted free agency next summer and is due for a sizable raise on the $4.6 million he is earning in the final year of his current contract. |

He's got 18 goals so far, he'll probably get 9 or 10 AAV. And will probably sign in the US.
If they traded Rielly, they could fit him. But that's not easy. After Tavares he's the next one that should be moved out.
But they could use Ekblad (RHD) more and he might be in the 7-9 range because his offensive output has been lower in recent years. There's a chance they might be able to get him to "come home" if Florida doesn't make him an offer. |

Ivan Provorov is also an upgrade, if they could get him. He'd slot in where Rielly would be playing. Losing Marner would be bittersweet, because he's an exciting player, however his playoff failure constitutes letting him walk, if the Leafs do not get out of the first round. Rielly might be rejuvenated elsewhere, Vancouver or Seattle could be a fit. Brock Boeser in Free Agency? |
