The first song I remember discovering for myself, not something my mother would play, was My Girl by the Temptations. I was maybe 4/5, and playing outside, and this older girl in the neighborhood was playing the record on her front porch.
I was just pulled into that song immediately, I even remember that moment vividly in my mind... and I think that was when I started to fall in love with music. - Mashadar
that's great that you remember when it happened.
i think mine was when i stole that billy joel record from my aunt. i was real young. i just put it under my arm and took it home like that was okay |

i just thought it was fine. she never did make me give it back. i later went in that same basket of records and stole streetlife serenade, which was good but i always liked the first one (52nd street) better. |

we had motown 45s all over the house growing up.
we found all kinds of weird records in that big-piece-of-furniture-record player. there were motown 45s and a herman's hermit's record and a saturday night fever record and a muppets saturday night fever record. it was weird. - kicksave856
my sis would buy 45s all the time. or steal them. lol.
i know we both have talked bout those stereos before and we both had em. that is where my parents' kept their albums. sis had a couple of the old 45s record boxes.
my parents were mostly the crooners. frankie, dean, jerry vale(mom's sweetie), and that genre for the most part.
it was always going during the day. |

the beatles, meet the beatles album. my sis played it all the time. that is where music became a part of the journey.
the chi-lites and the stylistics were me discovering my own taste in music as it related to girls. lol |

mr. bonkoski was our favorite teacher. he would hand out old newspapers and say "summarize an article and then do whatever you want. hand them in at the end of class." |
