COL is alot better after trade deadline - habs88888
They look like a complete team. I am very impressed with their play and control of the puck.
Will be interesting to see if they can dominate like that for 60 minutes or of the Habs can find some will to push back.

Sure.
Meanwhile, he traded our best D prospect for a player he believed to be a sure fire #1 center (who never really played center in the NHL), and that imploded before the first season even ended.
I'm tied of the MB debate, he was a poop GM with no long-term plan or vision, did not know how to manage prospects, signed old has-been and broken-down players in the hope to find some magic.
(frank)ing failure.
End of story. - Mashadar
Weber, Suzuki, Guhle, Caufield... saying he was just a failure is objectively wrong.

of course he did some good moves, he was there for 10 (frank)in years!
but at the end of the day the owner decided it was time to go through a full rebuid, a first in their 100 y/o history. and that was not after winning 3 cups in 10 years. no no lol
let just say he did not make enough good moves |

rebuilds are part of every team's cycle now, the rebuild process they started had become inevitable, it wasn't only due to what Bergevin did. and he did bring the team to a stanley cup final, "covid fluke" or not.
so yeah, the good vs bad ratio is up for debate, but again, not a complete failure. |

what I'm a bit surprised of is the fact they didn't need time to gel. after all these trades at the tdl... right of the bat they play real well. |

yeah well, sorry but to me it's a complete failure. otherwise he would have found another GM job right away. |

They were never a great team, he has what? 8-9 years and (frank)ed most of that away.
Galchenyuk, McCarron, Juulsen, Scherbak, Poehling, KK,... etc.. and that is only the 1st round. He got lucky CC fell down the draft to him.
Karl Alzner, the bucketload of rejects he signed (some that did not that did not make it through a season), Markov/Radulov/Daneault, the overpay of Gallagher and Armia, the trade for Dvorak....
I could (frank)ing go on.
No GM is perfect, they will make mistakes, players will not turn out to be who they hoped.
So yeah, he made a few decent moves.
But he was not a good GM, or even close to a decent GM.
(frank) I am tired of this, you wanna kiss MB's ass.
Go for it.

did he find another GM job or not?
in a league where they recycle the same boys club all the time... that alone should give you a hint. |

sure, but that alone doesn't make his tenure a "complete failure". and he did find a job in another organization, not as a GM but still, it isn't like he was completely ignored either. |

yeah, sometimes...
it's about nuance, I'm not arguing he was the greatest GM ever, just saying that he wasn't the most horrible either and didn't leave Hughes with zero to work with. |

that doesn't take anything away from the fact that he left behind some interesting pieces for Hughes, like Bergevin had inherited from the previous GM, not sure what your point is.

Yeah, he was a (frank)ing genius that left the team with a boatload of prospects and picks, a strong development approach, amazing cap management and a deep NHL roster.
Guess HuGo had nothing to do over the last few years other than reap in all the work done in the MB era.
Best GM, only beaten out by Pollock.

actually if you compare him to his peers, Bergevin did a lot better than a lot of other GMs in other organizations.
