I think Savard needs to sit, he has slowed down it was obvious against Colorado, but i don’t think they’ll do it. I think it will be either Struble or Xhekaj and that’s a shame
- Karine Hains

Considering lockeroom politics you are probably right. Xhekaj and Struble will alternate depending on the opposing line-up.

I was thinking the same, Savard could use a break but they're probably going to rely on his experience... maybe not the most horrible decision if Guhle takes a bit of time to get back into it and find his game, but yeah I agree Savard has lost a step.

It would also be an opportunity to see what the group can do without him, which would be good since his contract runs out this season…with the guys maturing in Laval, not sure they should extend him…

yeah between Savard and Matheson, if they're looking at keeping one of them it would surely be the latter, Matheson still has some very good hockey left in him, could be an ideal situation for him with a bit less ice time.

that's certainely a possibility... if that's the case though then he should be the one getting a break when Guhle comes back in.

A guy in my beer league has been blocking shots for 1 game and is complaining about it for 3 weeks.

Imagine 14 years.

I think signs point to Savard not being back next year. He has a better than expected showing when the team was rebuilding, but I suspect the Habs will (and should) move on.

Probably not.

If a guy is on your first PK and is always there at the end of the game protecting your league, he's more important to the team than people are giving him credit for.

Struble or Xhekaj will sit. Struble is currently playing better between the two but we know Xhekaj needs to be there against teams like Ottawa that will like to rumble.

Perhaps.

But I wouldn't be opposed to him coming back for cheap as a 7th defenseman.

We've been surprisingly healthy this year on defense, he'd be useful for sure.

good point. in the end whatever they decide is fine with me, they'll probably end up doing a rotation with everyone healthy anyway.

Yeah but look at Gallagher, we thought he was finished physically but he's got a good bounce back year.
