Laf had his best season of his career his first year under Lavi. It’s not the coach. He is just a lazy player who picks and chooses when he wants to care. Until he shows he cares night in and out this is what he will be - TPC
But he wasn’t lazy and he cared last year….the whole team seems to be in a season long funk. The only reason he REALLY stands out is because he just signed the big deal and he might need a kick in the ass. This is a big reason why Miller was such a priority to trade for imo, because he is the player they need to kick these guys in the ass from a players perspective. And why the roster has needed such a massive change over. The leadership bombed last year and Drury wasn’t letting it happen again. They have a sense of entitlement, like it supposed to handed to them.
Rangers need a Keenan clone. Idk who that is, maybe Quennville. But all season long Lavy has given seemingly everyone a pass for being lazy, and or disinterested. The veterans anyway and its showed, glaringly imo. They don’t have an ounce of the swagger of last years team and they need to find that again, but it might be too late for that this season. All along I’ve thought this year, in Drurys mind, after all the losing started he said let’s start the makeover process knowing that it may cost them the year without much success. As an org that might be the best thing for them heading into next season. Be humbled, fix the roster and move forward with Miller leading them.
They need a captain, imo that’s the biggest thing I notice. Miller should’ve been named by now, and I’d be stunned if it didn’t happen next year. Trouba knew he was dead man walking so they haven’t had one all year |

That’s my point, he cared last year under Lavi. Why I don’t think it’s the coach for laf |

I wonder though how much of a residual effect Gallant had on this team last year. |

But nobody cares is my point lol not just laf
I’d rather fire Lavy and give Laf more rope. I understand the sourness tho. We just signed him they have to give him more rope imo. Only way I trade him is with Jones or Kandre in a blockbuster |

I’m gonna say something that may get a rise but..I was cooped up on a boat all week with limited internet, and I have thoughts lol I was able to see a few things and had time to think about the team without fighting about it haha
I’ll relent on trading Fox, if you guys relent on trading Zib. Instead trade Panarin. I love Bread, but maybe he’s who they need to move on from. You half retain on him, and get a team who wants him and he’d be willing to go too, and you have yourself a pretty good deal. I’ll pick Chicago. Kane goes back too
Next year
Play Laf with Miller and zib. It started last game so let’s build the chemistry heading into next season. It’s clear, based on Zib, that Miller brings out the best in players. Logically, he does that for Laf too over time.
So line 1, and our unquestioned horses - Laf Miller Zib
Line 2. Trocheck leads the kids. Cuylle Trocheck Perrault.
Maybe too soon for Perrault, but they can’t play him minimal minutes. He’s the one that needs to blossom. Cuylle can protect him and Trocheck can be defensive insurance with him out there
Line 3- Othmann VETERAN CENTER Berard. New center can also lead the kids. Someone with defensive instincts and some jam. Pesky, in your face line. Jenner would be ideal, but I doubt he’s possible
Line 4- Edstrom Carrick Rempe. This line is very good 4th line as we’ve seen, no reason to mess with it.
Extras- Parsinen, Kaliyev, JBrod
This lineup also allows everyone to play on their correct wings, which may end up helping things even more
D corp-
ALEX VLASIC Fox
Soucy Borgen
Urho Schneider
Sign UFA
-Trade bread and Miller for Vlasic.
-Trade Jones and Kreider for a 3C
I have a feeling Miller may get traded in the summer. Soucy was a very curious trade, and Vaaks re-signed is just as curious. Because none of the 3 are top pair guys |

I guess I can say it now, Happy Birthday JT Miller, you are now 32!! - Brukie
Wow!!! I will always remember 32. Rangers won the cup and my son , 9 , at the time went to the parade and ceremony at City Hall. |

I think in order to get this team where it need to go two of the four below have to be moved for money purposes:
Kreider
Panarin
Laf
Zib
Kreider the easiest. Panarin the most valuable. ZiB the toughest to actually move. Laf if its for the right package |

Zibs problem was he isn’t a number one center anymore and there is absolutely nothing wrong with paying a 1RW 8.5 million bucks. Nothing. We could sign someone else to do the same thing. Zib is back, but I’m in the minority with that I guess
The perimeter offense is still our bugaboo imo. That falls squarely on Panarin because he’s our best forward, and most expensive
I agree on Kreider. Unfortunately his Ranger career may end in a whimper
Laf is bad trade right now. It’s panic if they did it. Give him a mulligan because there really is no other choice. Laf Miller zib could be dynamite, straight up TnT |

Hot take, people would still crap on Zib if he scored 40 again at a RW position bec hes not playing C. |

The problem is zib is just as big of an issue as Panarin when it comes to perimeter offense. Really need to trade them both to fully change the way this team plays |

You could make the argument it’s one or the other and Zib is probably harder to trade. Only way I see ZiB waiving is if he’s upset that Kreider goes. Panarin could actually be like Trouba where they force his hand but it happens in the summer |

Zib has played well at RW. I just have him on there since they may want a different makeup/style than what zib plays. And he’s got a high cap hit like the rest
Next 1-2 seasons will be interesting. |

A 32yo Mika scoring 40? Id be impressed. Looking at his number though, he is regressing. Time stops for no one. |

meant to tell you and TJ - watched waiting for guffman and mighty wind. I though both were okay but pales in comparison to spinal tap/best in show. |

Fair enough. Lol
They are all uniquely brilliant, IMO. Just knowing that every scene was improv.
To each his own. I didn't see Spinal Tap until maybe 10 years ago. I actually felt a little let down according to what everyone had to say about it. Still liked it, though. |

I’d be curious which elite teams are playing man to man. Seems so much less efficient. |

I want to know whos idea it is to play man to man defense, because whatever the answer, Lavy still takes the blame. |

If we decide to keep rolling Trocheck as 2C, then maybe we can make a run at Sam Bennett for 3C who will be a FA. Although Im pretty sure FLA will do what they can to resign him.
If we believe Trocheck should be the 3C, then I feel like there are 2 options. With the expectation that Lavy is fired and a new system is brought in. We pull Zib into a 2C role, which I believe he was always more suited for. Or we make a trade for one and leave Zib at RW. |
