I think Cuylle, Rempe and Edstrom have made good solid strides, Miller is the same and Laffy a step backwards. Its just been a crazy season. - Brukie
I could see defensive regression and the goalie.
I just don’t understand why the PP is so and now. It’s why they have a lost a lot of games this season |

Mentioned it yesterday ever since JT got here they try to force him the puck too much on the powerplay. They need to focus on just getting the puck on net more |

The defense is soft, players kept their head up with Trouba on the ice, there isnt a hard hitting defense man in this bunch. This is a band aid lot of defense man.
The Rangers relied on the PP to score for years, once it failed their 5v5 numbers are average and couldnt carry the team. Just like in the ECF the last few years. |

Agree the defense is soft but slightly better than it was before. That’s not saying much tho.
And we know the rangers aren’t built for 5v5 play. That has to change.
Just confusing how the PP is so bad with basically the same players and system |
|

I think I heard that on the broadcast. At least they are up front about it. I feel like the Rangers don’t give any details.
Edit: obviously sucks for Chytil. I feel bad for him. Can’t catch a break. - banger94
This was so easy to predict- its why the JT trade gets great grades. because Chytil should have had very little value- He is/was a ticking time bomb. For his health he should retire before its too late. |

Mika was so bad for so long he brought the PP numbers down. Add in 10-12 points and the PP looks much better. |

Dodged a bullet with that trade and people are still upset. I hope he does well. |

3 seasons as a Ranger where he averaged a point per game, not 2

We were talking about this season's PP being down, I said if Mika would have another 10-12 points, the PP wouldnt look down. |

Yea they seem to not have that go to shooter like they did when Mika was firing on all cylinders. |

Im guessing this is predicated on Zib getting traded to Buffalo? Yea not happening.
Also, Gavrikov is gonna get PAID, plus hes 29 going on 30, no thanks. If Im gonna pay a defensive FA, its Chychrun. I dont think he will resign in Washington with Ovi's NHL career most likely over next year. |

Cuylle shouldn’t be 3rd line. He’s arguably our best winger this season
If I had to guess right now, and I’ll assume they miss the playoffs and a huge move happens, Panarin is the one who goes. Simply because he’s the most prudent, easiest to trade and who’d get the most assets back in return. And if Drury positions the cap where they can retain on Bread, that would be even better. It’s nothing against Panarin, but I think they need to open up LW for the youth and change the identity of the team to a more north/south offense. The east west perimeter stuff is where they get beat the last few years
This would also mean Kreider is out of here also
Imo, the forwards next season should be:
4 LWs- Laf, Cuylle, Othmann and Edstrom
4 RWs- Zib, Perrault, Berard and Rempe
3 Cs- Miller, Trocheck and Carrick….needing a 4th
The defense has a lot of 3-4-5-6 guys, which is nice, but it needs a horse
—-
Pay big for 1LHD, and either a #2 or #3 center where Trocheck fits accordingly
That is a good roster if that happens. They are only two players short right now imo |

Was not really predicated just on zib. Could be kreider too. Tuch is an FA after next year.
I like Chycrun a bit more as well.

Will be interesting on what they do with Zib, Bread isnt getting traded, the Rangers need that big name to put seats in the stands.
Tuch will get paid. 6-7 range |

i am not arguing against trading Panarin, per se since next is his final year. and if you are not going to resign him... well ... but we don't score enough already and if we do score. he's usually involved with a point. Just sayin'- Big shoes to fill.
The only reason why we even have a shot at a playoff spot this year is because of the torrid start to the season Bread had. |

The problem they have is all these up and coming kids are wingers. I just think time has run out on Breadman where it’s best for the org to move on. Much like Trouba, but not because he sucks. Because he’d get them a nice return of assets and at the same time provide roles for guys on ELCs
Having Othmann, Berard and Perrault all in the lineup on ELC contracts gives Drury a lot of cap room to play with. Especially if they unload all of the money on Panarin, and Kreider. That’s almost 20 million bucks
This offense with him running it hasnt won them anything either, so we could lose without him too. It’s been fun with Breadman, don’t get me wrong. I just think it’s necessary to move forward. |

You will definitely have to use a lot of the $20m bucks on point production. Which FA are we signing with the loot that can replace the points (or come close)? |

I think the best dman out there is where Drury spends. Whether Chychrun or a trade.
Remember unless they get traded-Cuylle, Kandre get new deals. Shestys 12 mill and Lafs 7.5 I think it is, are on the books too now. So the cap room is already hit hard
It’s safe to say Kreider is 99% gone and 1 of either Panarin or zib. Panarin would be far more attractive to teams. Perhaps Fox, but that seems unlikely
They’re gonna need the kids to produce. If they don’t we could be in some trouble offensively, but maybe they get better defensively with better structure with a new 1LHD back there. McLeod is a terrific idea too to get more center balance |

If we turn Kreider (meaning his 6.5m AAV +) into Chychrun, Id say thats a win.
I just dont know what to do with KAndre. I dont think hes earned that sizeable extension. |
