My prayer to the hockey gods is that the exchange for not having a 60 goal season from Matthews is that his big playoff moments are still to come.

Agreed, and why not.

Everybody wanted more balanced scoring and defence and less individual sexy-stats. Maybe that's what we're building towards.

Last night, the offense was unreal, D was pretty solid, tendy looked NICE, PK was perfect, PP was all of sudden unstoppable. When was the last time the Leafs played that solid of an all around game?

Discuss.

I'm under no illusions that we've all of a sudden turned the corner, but it was a very important first step in the right direction.

I don't think that's all that rare - think Hey Joe, Sweet Jane, The Man Who Sold The World...

Although which bands are capable of making a song their own with a cover and which songs are impossible to steal from their originators is an interesting discussion.

The worst cover of all time imo is Puddle of Mudd covering About A Girl. You should not listen to it, unless you want to have a painful experience. You can't even imagine how bad it is.

Calgary's defense was in shambles last night, good to see the leafs break through and take advantage.

They remembered what they need to do to be successful - first on the puck, win battles, cut down mistakes, play a poopty team

Is Patches dead? Holmberg should not be in the top-6 - he sucks. Jarnkrok also shouldn't be in the top-6. I understand that our cap situation probably prohibits movement, but man I'd like to see anything tried at 2LW - Steeves from the Marlies . . . but if they had to, I'd take McMann off the 3rd line and put him up there (they've only had 48 minutes together this year and it wasn't great, but it wasn't bad). Despite the lopsided score, how many golden chances did Holmberg botch and how many opportunities to create plays did he simply not see? When JT and Willy are flying, they don't need the left-side guy bringing down the line.

I would swap Holmberg for Patches if healthy...so I agree the 2LW position is lacking for sure. (my point was more about the 3, 4 lines staying the way they were last night.

Holmberg is a place where the puck goes to die.

That last point is key, hope they bring that in the playoffs

Best goal song. Keep it.

Center ice should have had the St. Pats logo.
