Going to look so much better when Willander finally arrives and puts Myers in the press box

Good to see Garland back! Would rather see Raty on the line with him and Joshua though... Aman is a black hole offensively.

- NewYorkNuck

On Myers not likely lol

Expecting Raty’s time is soon maybe recalled for the PO’s.

On Aman good wheels no grit & yes a black hole on offence.

It's good they've got Huggy sheltering Myers.

Not really, he's projected at 12-13$X8 - and we currently have 13

I mentioned it yesterday - the UFA market is slim, offer sheet available players are LIMITED and that really leaves the trade market to find a top 6 C - then we question who's the expendable asset to package in a trade. I think most would say D-Petey, Mancini, Lekker, Willander, Mynio are untouchable. That leaves who? Kudra, Raty?

You could aim for Ehlers and then go hard after Duchene or one of the older UFAs to act as a mentor, Benn, Kane, Giroux, Gourde, but again - how much do they have left in the tank and how effective would they be in the top 6 role?

MGMT will have to get creative and hopefully it doesn't mean trading 1st or 2nds

- Brooks_Light

No fan of paying for an injury prone small 29yr old Ehlers.

Yup a slim UFA list & as for creative it’ll take some doing. I prefer to stay the course & draft/develop. Timing for any big adds isn’t there imo. Still say make a big play for Marner. Need a good finish to this season & an impressive playoffs to even remotely entice him.

Pretty huge contradiction don't you think? As I just mentioned Marners contract will be the definition of BIG add AND we can't afford it AND it would leave nothing for additional signings. Makes no sense.

BTW Ehlers played a full season last year, has only missed a few games and its pretty much standard size at 6' 180 - not small at all. And is that argument really still be played? It's fawKing stupid. Plus, his injury history clearly isnt affecting his play.

And yes now is the time to add - MGMT/ownership are not gonna sit back and do nothing with 13mil in cap space while Hughes, EP, Hronek, Debrusk, MP. Lank/Demko, Garland all enter/are in their primes.

It was there, I couldn't resist.

I'm ambivalent about him. I absolutely hated the Benning signing but he has played decently this season and last season.
He's probably good in the room and hates losing.

A couple of you, and you know who you are, need to look at the D pairings.

Then suck it.

- Load Management

With the goalie mentality you must look at that D and think...

'(frank) man that D is so good I don't even need to make a save'

Then bam you are digging it out of the back of net there Luongo.

It's a team game so why are you placing all the blame on Marner for the leafs PO struggles? Again, 50pts in 57 PO games isnt justifiably dismissive as you're making it.

They've been in the playoffs 8 years in a row since he's been in the NHL.

Then you turn around and say 'try winning by committee' - completely contradicting yourself.

Honestly the chances of landing Marner are slim and realistically we don't have the cap space to make it work PLUS add additional signings.

- Brooks_Light

That's right. 8 years in PO's and again you are just going off Marner's 'averages' on games played rather than looking at consistency in any particular PO round. I'll give you maybe 'two' decent PO seasons he had but again he gets manhandled in PO's and his disappearance factor is high. If you haven't been watching the Leafs in the PO's then maybe you should. I hope Marner steps up this year and doesn't pull an RNH disappearing act but I fear it's just gonna be more of the same. Pass.

But agree the chances of even landing Marner in Van are Nils B!tch Hogs Nada lol

I’m not giving a 29yr old 172lb winger a retirement contract. We lack a top 6C & elite play driving playmakers to add to Hughes. In my estimations 2 of those.

As I see it we have only 1 top 6 C & nothing in the system & no UFA C’s unless Tavares has more in the tank.

Ehlers is a play driver but gets injured a lot also. 29yr old & small & pricey. No thx

I like Bennett but he’s best suited as a 3C not a top 6 playmaker.

Summary: there is no fix for a top 6 C so I rather pay for an elite play driver & playmaker vs paying too much for 2 older players wanting their last big contract. Wouldn’t age well.

There is ample cap to go for a big fish like Marner if he would sign here. Imo he won’t so resign Boeser & not budge on the dollar. 5/8m or 6/7.5m

I thin Bennett would mesh well with EP

Used to grab them under the Mission bridge with a net standing just off shore

When I was a kid, the runs were huge. The family would go down on the Langley side at Derby Reach and use garden rakes and fill up garbage cans. Take them home to smoke and freeze them.

I would prefer a younger up and comer with a little less mileage. Bennett going to cash in.

The ice looks terrible. Haven't seen Hughes bobble a puck that much. So many guys wiping out.

Need to get a semblance of a forecheck going.

StL looks like the better, faster squad. That Hollway offer sheet was a steal.

Yup. Between that and Hughes reaching to tip it into his own net earlier. Tired mistakes. Zone entries were also an adventure most of the game. Good to see Boeser scoring again though.
