Wow good Leafs win and all but man the league needs to look into blowing plays dead on referee/puck interference plays.
Imagine if that wacky play cost a team the Stanley cup?
Git 'er done Gary. - LordHumungous

I fell down a bit of an internet rabbit hole while looking at the regular season tenant for George Steinbrenner Stadium (where the Rays will play this year).
Looking at minor league attendance figures (Dunedin Blue Jays - Single A are dead last in minor league attendance in 2023, averaging 495 fans per game).
https://ballparkdigest.co...lb-attendance-by-average/
Apparently you are required to have a ridiculous name to be a minor league club. Some highlights:
Lehigh Valley IronPigs
Alburquerque Isotopes
El Paso Chihuahuas
Richmond Flying Squirrels
Harford Yard Goats
Louisville Bats
Amarillo Sod Poodles
Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp
Rocket City Trash Pandas
Jersey Shore BlueClaws
Lansing Lugnuts
Augusta GreenJackets
Sugarland Space Cowboys
Akron Rubber Ducks
Binghamton Rumble Ponies
Brooklyn Cyclones (named after the Coney Island roller coaster)
Montgomery Biscuits
Biloxi Shuckers
Everett AquaSox
HIckory Crawdads
Fort Myers Mighty Mussels
Beloit Sky Carp (apparently a nickname for geese)
Modesto Nuts
I'm now going to try to get a t-shirt or hat for every one of these.

I read an interesting thing the other day:
There's a gentlemen's agreement that nobody will try to break the record for highest dive. You can only tie the record.
Apparently they all agreed going higher would just lead to someone's death. |

I guess the height at which simple physics makes it extremely hazardous even for the most elite expert isn't hard to figure out.
Honestly I get hooked on those videos of a guy doing massive dives from cliffs and bridges. What modern cameras can do is amazing. But people are gonna get killed doing poop for me to click on, dudes are (frank)ed |

As an overall players, Sr might be better because he was a great fielder as well and a much, much better runner.
But as a pure hitter, I think Jr beats him.
And god knows I love Vladdy sr.

I bought one a while ago, and a 1000 foot spool (longest allowed). Take it down to the beach sometimes. Fun as (frank). There's some guys I see at Marie Curtis sometimes with giant spools, working in teams. Some crazy ass kites out there dudes. - Zezel
Growing up (until I was 8 and we moved 'north of 7') my father and the guy beside us were super into making and flying big ass kites. They went into shows or competitions during the CNE and stuff and I remember they had a custom made stand that was metal and about 4 and a half feet tall that had a huge spool on it they used.
They made parachute kites and all kinds of wild and cool ones.
We lived right across the street from what is now Cliff Lumsdon park (Lakeshore Drive & 6th street area in Etobicoke and they used to fly the kites there all the time.
As a kid it was amazing cool to watch! |

Those are some beauty names
Fortunately, the Vancouver Canadians attendance is much higher

Here's a more detailed look at their attendance:
High Attendance:
The Canadians are known for drawing large crowds, often exceeding 200,000 fans per season.
Sellout Crowds:

Record-Breaking Attendance:
In 2017, the Canadians set a franchise attendance record with 239,527 fans, achieving a stadium capacity rate of 98.3%.
2024 Attendance
In 2024 the Canadians had a total attendance of 274,892 with an average of 4,262

Doing a lazy wiki search:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_diving
Five guys hold the record - from March 1983 (all from ABC's Wide World of Sports, so I'm assuming same day)
In 1985, Randy Richardison tried to break it, but "Failed attempt, multiple fractures of the left leg prevented diver from exiting the pool unassisted."
In 1987, Olivier Favre tried to break it, but "Failed attempt. Broke his back upon impact with water and had to be rescued."
And no attempts since, it appears. |

When they call it arguably the greatest appearance on a talk show that says a lot since there's been a zillion of them. Turns the joke into a Checkov story. And Conan serving it up to him. The hosts just loving his appearances is part of the joy of those clips too.

Oh to return to modern cameras, here's Z pro tip for you. If an ice cream truck is in your sector, hover a drone over your house and lock on to the truck. You can go do other things and set it to ping you when it's within range for a twister cone with dip and you (frank)ing know there's sprinkles on that my Leafy friends GO LEAFS (frank)ING GO WOOOOOOOOOOOOO |
