Well, that's up for debate. With the rising cap numbers, Colorado could've signed Raantinen, but choose not to. Then, Carolina lost him for peanuts because they wouldn't meet market value.

Well, based on the numbers, Rantanen needed Colorado more than Colorado needed him. 21 games played since the trade, 11 points.

Necas, 22 games, 20 points... and will likely command a few mill less than Rantanen.

D we view last year and the start of this year as the true Laf or what he has done the remainder of the season since he signed his contract and pre-2023-24 as the real him? That will drive how the team proceeds. Right now, hard not to think of him as a quasi bust. But they may look at what Kakko has done in Seattle as a cautionary tale of moving on too soon.

Jan KK has 9 goals 16 assist in 38 games with a whopping -38 getting 17.31 minutes. I don’t think he’s lighting it up anywhere. I hope Laffy breaks out from his funk, but I do believe if he craps out next year I can see him on the block.

The thing is, LAF in his "break out year" had pretty much the same points/60 (playing with Panarin) as Kakko had this year (playing with bottom 6 guys). Yet Kakko got bashed and LAF was lauded.
