The teams that were smart enough to lock up their core 2-3 years ago knowing how high the cap was going to go are going to be geniuses.

I think there’s a golden role with contracts. Just pay your guys properly and don’t try to get too cute. Mcdavid got a monster contract and look at it now? It’s decent/great value already. Many times, bridge deals cost teams many more dollars on the back end.

Yeah I think there’s some hesitancy with the NHL being kind of poorly ran and having some set backs with the cap in recent memory but if you bet on the cap always going up which generally it does, paying your stars market value for a big long term deal will pay off health permitting

But we cant say on one hand it doesnt matter because the draft classes are too unpredictable in terms of knowing how much quality is there and at the same time say this year doesnt matter as much because the talent level is lower than average. This draft class could be like 2011 where 7/10 guys in the top 10 became all stars or 2012 where 2/10 became all stars.

Ill move off the NFL analogy and just say the penguins were better off in 2003-2006 drafts because we earned higher picks and draft top end talent with those picks instead of being later in the draft and missing out on those guys. Was there any promise it was going to work out? Of course not, but Ill take the added probability at a top 10 pick versus non-top 10 pick.

Crosby smiling with his teammates after wins is all that matters until Crosby is not an active member of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Nah. Hockey is just better in every possible way. Let’s not dumb it down so the general American public can be entertained. You can’t get excited over a regular season game? That’s on you. Wear a rapists name on your back and act like a douche in a parking lot somewhere.

Well I guess on that note nhl fans all support child molestation. I’m sorry if you got picked on by the football jocks growing up. They wernt my favorites either.

You have to understand that to Grinder, the only acceptable thing to enjoy is hockey, and also he’s the only one allowed to enjoy hockey. Or the only one that enjoys it correctly. Or both.

I feel bad for his wife or husband and possible kids then. They must feel so neglected. I wonder if they have to wear a boko mask Saturday nights so he can seal the deal.

I mean some of them would try, I also played hockey with a number of guys that played football, still do. I’ll tell them to this day how lame the sport is. I feel like the fat football players would always be the guys picking on people, but they also would never fight anyone.

Not unless they outmanned them 3 or more to one. But ive be grown to respect the sport. Both for the game and how the business is run. The superstars of the league make more in one contract more than a career of the best nhlers. While hockey is the better sport by far… they could learn a thing or two.

I don’t think hockey is ever going to translate as well to the general American public. So let’s not throw glitter on it. But I don’t think breaking up goalie fights as they are organically happening is a good thing either.

No goalie fight happens organically. They are f’in a whole rink away from the other. A goalie fight is almost by Definition manufactured. It’s literally the fakest fight in a league of fake fights. It sinks to wwf levels of fake. They might as well be wearing speedos to instead of hockey pads.

Hey man. They may have a better chance at drafting a guy that may have a chance to be a difference maker in anywhere from 2-5 years from next year.

In 1987 the NYR traded a first round pick to the Nordiques for head coach Michel Bergeron.

Just say'n… PENS had the 4th overall that year (even though it was MARIO's 3rd season).

FTR, they selected Darrin Shannon with that pick. He played 17 NHL games.

First priority - Trade the coach
Second priority - Fire the coach

Great. That game last night didn't mean sh!t this year. Those players forgot about the game before their heads hit their pillows.

Boko and Crosby didn’t. Crosby out there getting chippy at the end of the game while Rust pretends not to notice.
