Great 60 minute effort against a bad goalie and a bad team but that's how you have to take care of business against teams like that.

Some Debbie Downers never make an appearance after the leafs destroy a non playoff team.

I wasnt a big fan of the trade when it happened due to it beingan overpayment...and im really holding out final judgement until the playoffs.
But

Damn, that Laughton trade looks so bad right now.

Hoping that changes in the playoffs.

Best be careful that Dubas doesn't go after Stolarz at the end of the year. He's unrestricted after this season, is he not? There is talk about Hildeby being the next great goaltender in the Leafs future. He didn't look like it, earlier in the season. How has he been on the Marlboro's?
- JohnnyReb

It would be funny if dubas offer sheeted knies.
But i dont think dubas has the draft picks required to do it

Yup. Hes been great.
I think most thought (myself included) that his last two years of the deal would be huge drop offs.
But they really havent been.
Over the past 7 years JT has averaged 0.96ppg
The past two years, 0.90ppg

Pretty good.

They take the C off the man and he responds by shooting the puck into the net. JT is the real deal.

His 7 year deal did start in 2018. Through that deal he's been good - 17th in goals and 24th in points. The negative stat is that since 2018 he's made the second most amount of money in the NHL. So among the top-30 point getters since he signed his deal with Toronto he is technically the most expensive per point at $159k for every point he gets. Kopitar at $152k is second worst, followed by Ovechkin ($136k), Matthews ($129k), Kane ($122k), Panarin, Nylander and Giroux ($121k), Stamkos ($115k) with Marner rounding out the top-10 ($113k).

The most efficient guys at points for their contract value are Guentzel, Draisaitl, MacKinnon, DeBrincat, Marchand . . .

Crosby is 11th and McDavid is 12th for the record.

It's a pretty simplistic way to look at a contract's value because guys are paid to do more than just put up points but I think it does illustrate the market's frustration at just how overpaid our players are with all 4 Core guys being in the top-10 highest paid for point production.

This is the Toronto Sports Media in a nutshell to me.

On the front page of the TSN site there's a blurb, "Colaiacovo says Blues 'too much to handle' for weary Canadiens".

The first thing I think is that the Habs just played back-to-back, or perhaps 3 in 4 - and yeah, teams wear down. So I looked to see who they'd been playing - and they'd had 3 days of rest since their last game on Saturday.

If the Toronto Maple Leafs were fighting for their playoff lives and went into St. Louis with 3 days of rest and got curb-stomped 6-1, the media would be apocalyptic, not apologetic.

Well ya...of course.
Cause its Toronto sports media and its the Toronto maple leafs.
Toronto sports media arent going to go apocalyptic for a montreal team.
Im sure the Montreal media were a little more stern.

I'm willing to give him more time, but yeah, I wasn't really a fan of bolstering the bottom 6 anyways. Is Laughton in over the Yarn Crook really that much of an upgrade?

Bad night for the wussycats. Both of their Atlantic rivals won and Toronto passed them. NOICE.

BLUE AND WHITE BEATDOWNS.

Philly : curb-stomped by the Leafs 7-2

Flightless Boids : annihilated by Tampa 6-1

Les Habituals : smoked by St. Louis 6-1

My three teams put up 19 mother(frank)ing goals last night!

Too bad I'm not in a fantasy league this season. Wasted a killer night.

Leafs 75%

Bolts 20%

Blues 5%

That is where my loyalties are in the regular season.

Come playoff time, I am 100% ALL IN on the Leafs. Leafs deserve it. (frank) Tampa and Ducherov getting another cup. (frank) that. They don't deserve it.

Leafs have 11 games left and Nylander needs 9 goals to tie Drysaddle for the Rocket. This is 100% doable if Willy stays smoking hot. (assuming Drysaddle doesn't score any more). I'm rooting for Willy 10x harder than Ovi.

The Maple Leafs 5 forward powerplay has been the most productive unit in the league since the trade deadline. 8 goals in just under 19 minutes of ice-time.
