As frustrated as I am this season I always want this team to win. Every team we needed to lose did so tonight, maybe we can get something positive out of this.. but hey, you do you boo

Theres nothing to gain from them winning in the long run. People are so short-sighted. This team is not good enough to get out of the first round of the playoffs, let alone making it to the Cup finals.

This team is a joke and lavi is a bigger joke of a coach.

Kreider is clearly hurt. Avoids contact, doesn’t have the same speed, he’s useless 5 on 5. Sit him for the rest of the season, wtf are they doing.

Every player on this team has been bad and having career bad years. Just ugly all around.

Watched the first and most of the second. Brutal initial period, better in second, but allowed two PPG and that was it. LA stoned them in the third but the lack of push and special teams struggles doomed them again. Team has lost eight of 11

It’s really crazy. You could say Cuylle has exceeded expectations, and that’s it. Every single regular has had a bad season. I won’t count Miller because he came late and has been as advertised

The PP is numero uno as far as the record goes, last year it won them games and this year it’s literally costing them a playoff spot.

This team has lived and died on the PP, we've seen it time and time again. Last years playoffs are a perfect example. The PP hasnt done anything but lets leave the same guys out there. We have nothing 5v5.

The Bash Mika train is pulling back into the station. 0 0 0 in the last 5 games 0 1 1 in the last 7.

That’s a fact. They were pretty awful 5 on 5 most of last season too. PP hid their flaws.

I really hope Fox gets right this offseason. Not rooting for losses necessarily but a longer offseason may benefit guys like him.

The last few years this team has been below average to slightly above average at 5v5, elite on special teams, and had all world goaltending. It CAN win you a cup if everything goes right at the right times, but if you are not anchored by a good structure at 5v5 to help win games when the other stuff isn't working it makes it way harder. That's why we've flirted with making it to the finals but haven't. This season has exposed this fatal flaw in the construction of this team as well as the fact that the coaching staff is hurting more than helping.

I've said it a hundred times already but I don't think anyone from this coaching staff should be brought back and I think some newer blood (NHL wise) should be brought in to coach

Obviously a lot more turnover needs to take place from the player side of things. Zib, Kreider, K'andre, etc need to be looked at. It sucks that the main reason Trocheck will probably not be moved is because he is super friends with JT, he's so annoying out there. So many dumb plays. The best we can hope for is that next season JT is our #1 or #2 center and Trocheck is #3. Zib cannot be the other top 9 center. He gotta go. And of course, the left side of the defense needs to be overhauled. The best hope is Vaak is the 7d even with that annoying new contract.

The question is what, are you willing to do to make a complete and competitive team?

No one is ever happy here. With any player, ever.

Trade anyone and anything not named Gabe Perreault if it makes the team younger, faster, better. I can't say what I would like or dislike without examples

They have to build a team with an identity and personnel that fits the coach.

It’s a skating league that’s fast. Get those types of players. Have size and mobility on the backend. Have a system that drives 5v5 play.

What they have now is a mishmosh of garbage

Right out the gate, conditions on who we should and shouldnt go after. Specifics on what they should do. Which also happen to be descriptors of the best players in the league.

Let me ask you this... Lets say Toronto lets John Tavares walk, I can see all the hockey experts in here crap on him. Why wouldnt you give him a 2 or 3 year deal to be 2C here?

There we go, I knew that was going to happen.

What are our options? Who is going to trade a legit top 6 center, under the age of 28, for what we have here?

Thats a good point and he is having a good year but he is a band aid fix. Do we really think this team will be a contender next year? JT has never won anything either, unless the Leafs win it this year.

People want a big shake up but who can really be traded? CK20, and KA Miller. Thats about all and what will the return be? Mika would need to waive which who knows what he would do.

The problem is were not going to be able to fix every hole on this team. Its too much. So you fix what you can fix, and you put a bandaid on the other parts.

With all the players we have, we could probably accumulate a lot of draft capital, including probably a couple 1st round picks. Then you draft players to patch the bandaid spots.

Oh and to answer your question, can they be a contender next year? Yea, I think they can be.
