It's hard to "de-program" a guy who literally "fought" all joking aside, into the NHL.
- AdamFrench

It's bad, he used to be able to bring a little support to the offense, he scored 5 goals in his rookie season. It's like he's getting worse at hockey because of this.

I think he needs to stop hanging out with Laraque

He hasn't gone full "Rempe," but you have to wonder what social media is doing for these younger guys coming in with fists flying and everybody wanting them to be Mike Tyson on the ice.

I don't think he still needs it but Xhekaj is taking advice from Laraque specifically for fighting, not for how to play defense in the NHL.

people are making a big deal out of Xhekaj's situation but it isn't all that bad imho. it's pretty normal for a young guy who is asked to play a physical role to struggle at first with implementing that aspect to his game while also taking care of his defensive responsibilities. he's still learning, he'll be fine.

you're right Pat, kids go through ups and downs. that being said, if we look at the dcore with Matheson, Guhle, Hutson, Carrier, and Struble... add Reinbacher next year. that's 6. there's often injuries so wifi will play his fair share of games, but he'll always be the odd man out. unless he does better than Struble.

there is indeed a logjam on the backend, which was to be expected with all those prospects. there were times where Xhekaj was the better player while Struble was sent down to Laval to work on his game.

Struble does play a physical game and can be a tough mofo, but it's safe to say Xhekaj is a notch above in terms of being an intimidating presence, so we'll see how it all works out. I guess trades will need to be considered at some point...

Between Guhle and Reinbacher there's probably 2 good knees.
