I agree but CK20 isnt going to bring back a first or second liner neither is Jones or Soucey. Key Miller or Laffy might be able to bring back a solid second liner, maybe a center. Even they Mika waives, what type of return can it really be? he has 5 more years, will it be for a third liner, maybe second? I dont see our assets bringing in a substantial return to move the needle next season.

You don't trade Kreider or Mika or anyone over the age of 30 that's been a passenger on this team with the hopes of getting anything significant back. It's addition by subtraction here

Always loved Torts, bring him back
- Rangers99

I dont know what Torts contract was but I am all for bringing him back unless there some compensation due to Flyers to hire him, one of those kind of situations

but I never wanted Torts fired in first place, that's where Hamrlik
comes from

I’m not joking, I’d love Torts back

Love torts, but he is not the fit for the team they need to build.

Need young players to come in and develop. Thats not him. Rangers have to get younger while retooling and not a full rebuild.

I think that's just a blanket statement that not completely accurate

some young guys can't develop with Torts, but some can

maybe Torts is the kick in the ass Lafreniere needs though

I think Drury’s dream is still Sullivan. But torts is another American guy who helped team USA staff at four nations so who knows

I always blamed it on Hamrlik because of how bad he was in that Bruins series

I know that Dolan and Torts stayed very friendly even after Torts was fired

I could see Dolan pushing for it

100%

What kids are Rangers trying to develop anyways? Othmann and Berard are Torts' type of players already. He may lose the rest of his hair with Rempe, but it's not as bad as Avery.

I believe it was a 5-year contract. He was going to retire at the end of, but let's see what happens.

I really hate giving up on Kreider being a lifer. If this season is due to injuries and he’s been playing through the back and broken hand, I’d be open to keeping him next season. But if he’s just broken down at this point (age etc) then he needs to go.

The team needs a big overhaul from the GM to coach and core players. They are not going to build heavy through the draft so have to be savy in FA and trades. Younger and faster are needed

Free agency is pretty bare, not many I would give an 7 year deal to and if you want to get younger FA isnt the way.

Some forget the troubles the Rangers had under the regime of Tortorella with Sullivan as an assistant coach being responsible for running their powerplay of key. Their powerplay for one facet alone, also entailed similar at times struggles back then as today's does. Though today's struggles, however due to some additional unrevealed yet reasons than visible under a lost Laviolette or more, &/or the coaching staff's possible disconnect with their skaters overall. That, along with those particular skaters who fail to play their role with heart & give a 100% effort every shift.

Then there was the issue for those who wanted defensemen Ryan Lindgren dealt so badly these last two seasons due to fear of him completely breaking down before the postseason. Torts demanded even his key offensive weapons back then here to act like the warrior Lindgren was in for one means, sacrificing their bodies in blocking shot after shot. That philosophy broke down some of their forwards, & limited the offensive contributions of the ones who were expected to produce.

I get what you are saying...or trying to, at least.

Torts was not responsible for players diving in front of Chara blasts from the point. Yes, guys did that crazy sh!t (and paid for it, too), but that was not on Torts...he did not run the defense.

What Torts was responsible for was conditioning and making players give maximum effort every shift...and trying to control Sean Avery.
