They went to the ECF 2 of the last 3 years. Why does he get no credit for that but gets all the blame now? Makes no sense

I’m not debating whether or not Drury should be fired or allowed to continue his plan. But I don’t know how much credit Drury should get for those two runs. What did he do to get credit for them? That’s a legit question not sarcasm. I don’t think any of his draft picks contributed. I’d have to look back at what signings/trades helped.

He still made trades mid season, signed free agents during the offseasons controlled who was on the roster on every game night. Gave players like Rempe a chance to earn a roster spot. He controlled all of it.

But once again he gets all the blame now cause they are having a bad year but it’s the players and coaches in that year that deserve the praise

I’ll take a look tomorrow, but my guess is that Drury’s moves didn’t contribute significantly to the runs. I could be completely wrong. He inherited a talented roster with good prospects in the pipeline. Which could be why he doesn’t get credit. While he does get blame (from others) because they feel his moves contributed to the downfall.

The way I look at it, what’s changed? IMO, the locker room has a MAJOR part in why the season has gone the way it has.

Panarin Kreider Shesty Fox Schneider Miller Trouba Lindgren Laf Kakko etc (all major pieces of those runs) were all PRE Drury.

Zib was signed to the extension under Drury.

So besides a few moving parts here and there, going into this off-season, a lot of those parts were still here.

The way he handled things, basically threatening everyone to be traded midseason, handling 2 very respected locker room guys as if they were issues etc has broken this team mentally. We can argue/agree/disagree on whether or not they should just suck it up and play like the millionaires they’re being paid to be, but at the end of the day, I think he bears the most responsibility for why the season has gone the way it has. (I’m not even getting into all the dumb trades IMO he’s made).

That’s where I was getting at in the beginning of your post. I don’t think Drury contributed to the runs. He inherited it. In my opinion Drury should never have been hired at the time (not a knock on Drury, just that Dolan was too impatient at the time).

I am not just talking this season. Looking at his whole tenure. Who hired Lavi that lead the rangers to the presidents trophy last season? Who signed Goodrow in the first place? Who traded for Wennberg and roslovic last year at the deadline that helped push the roster to the ECF? Hell he even signed your boy gallant which got them to the ECF 3 years ago.

To say he is to blame for everything now and then act like things he did in past seasons that helped the team success don’t matter just doesn’t add up. Everyone is having a bad year this year. But one bad season doesn’t mean he sucks or is the worst GM in the league like so many think he is. There are far worse GMs in the NHL

Players like Kreider and Panarin that he “inherited” had their best seasons of their career under Drury’s tenure. But no one talks about that. Drury is the one who hires the coaches and back room staff to help them reach those heights

PATIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Patience is needed here, Drury took the team with the best record in hockey to a team battling it out for a playoff spot. Next year he will have the team battling for a lottery pick!!!!!!

TPC you are reaching here, Drury has fired Quinn and Gallant and soon Lavy too. Is he hoping to win it all by committee?? This was a team contending for a Cup, he has turned it into a team contending for a playoff spot.

1. This team is already not far off from battling for a lottery pick.
2. We better hope if 1 is true, 2 definitely isnt because that pick then belongs to the Pens.

Just over coming on here and reading daily Drury is to blame for everything. It’s just not true. It’s a cop out for people who just hate the man

Don’t think he’s the best, but he certainly isn’t the worst.

Every GM is signing Mika if in his shoes. I know people were calling for him to be traded for Eichel which would’ve been great but hindsight is 20/20.

Signed Trocheck to a good deal. Last season, especially with how good that line was, was one of the better values in the league.

Copp cost a lot but didn’t hate the deal at the time. Last deadline was a little underwhelming and I don’t think he should've acquired Kane but honestly, he’s consistently trying to make the team better.

Still young as far as GMs go, so have to assume he’s learning along the way and will only get better. I really want to see how this offseason goes before writing him off.

Exactly this is my point! He isn’t perfect but is far from being the worst GM like so many keep saying. The past few years the team has had some good success under his lead. That isn’t just gone or forgotten cause of this one down year. It’s ok to blame players too for just not trying and coaches for not making adjustments

I think I’ve provided my reasons as to why Drury sucks as a GM. I’m not just saying it this season bc we’re having a bad season.

It’s just frustrating witnessing the incompetence from him for 5 years. Ur right tho, I won’t bring up Drury anymore, but if someone else does ……..

Not having Rempe tonight against Trouba sucks
