Would you look at that!? Its almost like the GM has full control of his staff.....
Do find it odd they do it now with so little games left. Why not the end of the season? |

With the Torts bridge looking completely blown up, the chances of hiring Mike Sullivan go way down. I believe the next HC will be Tocchet or Woodcroft. I like Woodcroft's resume better. I think he could develop the younger players better. |

Torts coaching career has always been about taking over an established team trying to get them to the next level. He has never been a HC guiding a team thru a rebuild. At least, Torts' footprint will only be thru being a HC. |

I’m very happy this move was made but surprised. Good stuff. Let’s hire a progressive younger coach who can develop the young players properly. |

Impressive record considering the disgraceful rosters he’s had |

Was hoping to see Rocky gone as well. That move is also way overdue. |

Not to worry, Rocky will be gone at the end of the season. Shaw might hang around as an assistant for the new HC, possibly. |

Never should have got the job. It was such a "round peg/round hole" situation the Flyers put themselves in.
His antics wore thin and hopefully this was his final gig. At least coaching a young team.

I would not be shocked to see Torts end up with the Isles this summer. I really believe he will be a HC in the league again.

Wow pretty shocked. Have to give Briere credit here. He was never the right coach for this team at any point. |

News alert, some Flyers posters shattered and in therapy after finding out they were dead wrong about who is the GM. Stayed turned for breaking details. |

He might have been, he took the spotlight off the team, he for sure had a hard work, no nonsense approach, none of that is bad, especially when the franchise has been floundering since 2010 run.

Because Flyers, this change will likely spark a nice win streak to close out the season and cost them valuable draft seeding |

Let's wait and see who they bring in for the next HC before we give the man his flowers. |

Give DB credit where credit is due, he made mistakes but he is HMFIC.
You can complain Torts did things to be fired prior but DB pulled the trigger. You can say DB should have traded players like Frost and Farabee sooner to accelerate the tank. However you can rationalize how DB did it also. The Flyers with Hextall and CF drafted first rounders, Covid paused the timeline somewhat, injuries next and complete dysfunction the last 2 years of CF, they had no idea what they had with their prospects. DB wanted to find out and he did, then he moved them, If you listened to him about Frost, it was not because he wasn't an NHL player, it was because of the next contract Frost was going to get, DB didn't see the the value Frost brought, with where the team was justifying that next contract. DB has done some good things, some well thought out things, firing Torts now, prior to season end is on that list. WE now know DB is in charge and they are set to find the next coach prior to the end of the season. My only hope is the drafting that has been done by DB works out, he needs to hit on 2-3 picks not named MM. He needs a Point from the 3rd round, hell Jett being close to a point would be just fine.
MY grade is B- for DB, almost a C, this off-season it could fall 2 grades or solidify at B |

Lol you beat me to it! According to some, Torts was pulling all the strings and was in charge of everything. He was the master manipulator who had DB, Jonesy & Hilferty in his back pocket. All jokes aside, it was time to move on. They won't be good for a while, but hopefully we get someone who can help the develop the kids.

since 2010 about covers that, but to say it was a complete wash is not correct in my opinion, they are where they need to be, as long as they stay in top for this draft and unless a miracle trade is out there, they need to focus on #1 in 2026.
