It’s because Brukie doesn’t understand any of this lol

The all powerful Jim knows everything. What an idiot. You predicted The Rangers were suppose to win the Cup in the last few years, as usual completely wrong. You havent got one thing right with your predictions.

If Gabe didn’t sign he could go back into the draft. Isn’t that the worst case scenario? Lol
- Slimtj100

No if he didn’t sign he would go back for his junior year.

Ultimately if he didn’t sign at all after 4 years he could have become a UFA like what happened with Vesey or Kevin Hayes

But he wouldn’t have gone back in the draft ever

That’s what you said we can’t develop prospects lol. And if that’s the case then his cap hit won’t be an issue and the whole argument of burning his ELC early won’t be an issue lol. Don’t get why this is complicated
- TPC

The whole argument of unless he kills it it won’t matter anyway is a dumb one also. Let’s say he gets 47 and 56 pts next 2 years. That’s a big decision we have to make on year 3 when we could’ve gotten year 3 “for free” to get a better idea of what we have.

For an organization that’s ALWAYS right against the cap, feels pretty dumb to do this.

Ur better than this: and normally I’d just have a conversation and say that’s not true and explain, I’ll pull a Jim and call u an idiot and say how much u just showed u know nothing about hockey and bring it up everytime u try and have a conversation from now on

Those numbers likely mean bridge deal in the mid 2 million range.

When his first two seasons are a 1.23 mil cap hit.

In other words. Not a big deal.

This is a good argument we can have. Which is fine on this blog!

I don’t see it as a big deal if he is putting up 50 points in year 1 and 2

Ultimately this is what the kid wanted to sign.

Why would we advocate the organization playing hard ball with him already. It’s senseless

Yea that’s the other thing too. People on here have given drury so much crap for how he handled players this season. Isn’t this a good thing he is taking care of an important prospect and doing what he wants and what is best for his development?

People can’t separate all the other moves that bother them from this particular move.

If Drury was fired, any replacement GM would have signed Gabe now and burned the year of the ELC too.

47 and 56 pts is more than a 2 mil bridge deal. Bridge deal yes, but probably closer to 4 million than 2. And that could become an issue.

Here’s the problem. Numbers are good, yes. But instead of seeing year 3 (he could put up 65 pts and we’d feel great or he could put up 38 pts and we’d be saying wtf) we don’t get to see that 3rd year “for free”. We have to pay for it. Whether it be a bridge deal, or they roll the dice and give him an 8 year extension and he turns into this years Laf. That 3rd year could be a very important one that we’ll have to pay for 1 way or another instead of watching the kid play for $1 million.

Has he burned that year? I haven't seen anything yet that says one way or the other where he will be playing.
I have no problem with Drury, like some others. And obviously, signing Perreault now is the right move. Not one person has said otherwise. But, who was the last kid to finish a college season and jump straight the the NHL to finish out the season? Seriously, 'cause I certainly can't think of who or when it was. So, if it's that uncommon, how is it such a huge deal to speculate on which path would be the best one for both the player and the organization? I'd like an answer to that one, please. How is it an offense worthy of public humiliation to wonder if it would be better to bring him up or send him down to be a leader in Hartford?

I think the issue is both Gabe and his agent had no intention to sign a contract for the AHL. It was either the rangers or back to college

No. The year is already burned. He is on the roster practicing with the team and likely in lineup tomorrow.

the moment he signed his year begins, so year 1 is now regardless of games played.

people, not you tb, forget the leverage the player/agent have here. if its something the player/agent badly want you risk alienation further down the line. gabe wanted it, the rangers want it, it's realy not that big of a deal.

I think it’s an EXTREME nitpick. But that’s what you guys do regarding anything Drury does. You find that one speck of ut ohhhhh and shove it down our eye balls all day every day

It’s not like we have Cale Makar here. Where he will burn first year of ElC and after two years be a 9 million player.

But it would be great if it happened
