Lou has more currency then a lot of gms for the devils years. But that’s like archaic now in relation to the NHL nowadays. Clutch and grab era is long gone

If Fox played every PP minute and 2nd pair d minutes, with zero PK minutes..that would do him wonders.

Yep! Lou left the Devils in bad shape and doing the same with the Islanders. Lou is a dinosaur and if not for Barry's great coaching, his Islander record would be much worse. Barry fell into the Islanders lap. It was the only job opened, and Barry wanted to get paid.

Is Ehlers extended yet? Suppose they trade Breadman and signed Ehlers. Just looking at FAs in the summer and there isn’t much.

Tavares …that would be wild if he signed with the rangers lol

I can see the Rangers adding another Ex-Islander. I'm not sure JT would want the attention of NY though. JT would probably take less money at this point to stay with the Leafs in hoping to win a Cup instead of admitting defeat.

Think anything Rangers do this offseason will be replacing the coaching staff and making trades...

Any FA will be bottom-6 guys and D-men.

Even I wouldn’t do that

Pierre LeBrun:
As I reported on TSN’s “Insider Trading” on Thursday, the league plans to bring up the LTIR playoff salary cap issue with the NHLPA in CBA extension talks, which began this week in New York. As to whether there’s a CBA tweak that can be figured out, who knows? But at the very least, it’s on the agenda for discussion.

Sounds like the league is finally listening…

My initial 3 thoughts.

1. Cap continues into post season - if team has someone on LTIR, can't use their cap space, but if you do they stay on LTIR through post season.

2. Same as above, but maybe a per game cap based on who is dressed? Assuming this would be similar to regular season rules, but let's say LTIR player returns and you used their cap space on a trade - you have to mix and match players to stay compliant, so maybe you can't even dress the high paid guy you traded for without sitting the guy who returned from LTIR.

3. Leave as is but incur some type of cap penalty in the following season if you go over regular season cap in post season. This one would be interesting and probably lead to some fun trades over the summer.

I'd go simple...for every playoff game a player must have been rostered during a regular season game and counted against the cap. They could be a healthy scratch for all I care.

I'd take Drury any day over Lou. I'd even take back Neil Smith as Islander GM or President. He was at least able to sign better UFA's in 40 days than the Islanders have done in years and Neil did not have UBS.

Even Garth is looking good right now.

Garth and Milbury were not good, but ownership was a lot worse than what Lou has gotten to work under. Milbury especially had to get rid of players like Palffy because of money.

I almost felt bad for Milbury with what he had to deal with there.

Almost.

It was not easy with some of those lousy owners. Even the great Bill Torrey would have struggled, and Bill did struggle when Roy Boe stopped caring after the dynasty.
