Do a blog about the marvelous off season the genius has had
I don’t think any of you guys can complain so far, but what do I know🤷🏻♂️ one thing they’ll need is more contributions from the kids/youth and they are probably counting on that |

Im happy with the moves. Got about what I thought we would get for Miller. In my mock trade with DET, I had it as a 1st, 3rd and Wallinder... we got a 1st, 2nd and Morrow. Would have been nice if Morrow was a LHD, but it is what it is.
Raddysh is a solid signing for the bottom 6.
Gavrikov deal was solid, many were expecting an overpay, but were hoping it wouldnt go over 7m, and we got that.
But as you say, this season will come down to the kids, and really, I believe it comes down to 1 guy, Othmann. He really needs to take that next step. The situation with him is feeling very similar to the situation we had with Nils. He got drafted onto a team with a positional logjam at LW, so much so that LAF has to play RW. Additionally, Cuylle has clearly jumped him on the depth chart. If theres no progress with him, I firmly believe a trade needs to be explored. We need a LD, a RW and we could potentially use some more depth at C. |

Every time I’m on puckpedia, they need to trade either Othmann or Berard exists. I know you like Berard better, but I’d prefer to trade Berard. I still believe in othmann and I don’t think he’s gotten nearly enough rope yet to essentially give up on him. He was hurt the beginning of last season so that could’ve stunted his growth last year
Raddysh seems like overkill but I guess depth, especially in RW, was necessary
Gavrikov will be a difference maker in the dzone and this better make Fox a difference maker again. Fox is the key to this whole thing imo, he needs to be that elite guy for us again. Missing the playoffs and not adding any wear and tear to him, should help Fox alot where he can heal up
No way did I think Miller would fetch that much, I was stunned. He might be really good for Carolina, but it just wasn’t gonna happen here. Canes style fits him more, but we got a huge package of futures which they desperately needed. Probably works out for both teams. |

The thing with Miller is we constantly tore him apart for his play with the puck getting out of the zone. In Carolina's system, because of the pace they play with those decisions have to be made even faster. So unless he miraculously becomes an elite decision maker, I just cant see how he could be better for Carolina.
I like Berard because as a 23 year old in his first season with the Rangers, hes already playing the position we expect him to play on the 3rd line. Hes got a nonstop motor, plays much bigger than he is and has a scoring touch. Playing a full 82 game season, youre looking at someone who might be pushing 30 pts as a third liner... and the thing is, we dont know where that potential tops off.
As far as Othmann goes, people critique his skating, his speed, his finish. You believe in Othmann even though theres nothing particularly positive to say about what youve seen and regurgitating what scouts have said about his potential. Im not saying I hope theyre wrong, I hope he lives up to everything said about him, but as it is right now Im not seeing it, yet. And unfortunately, Sullivan's reputation doesnt help Othmann's cause either. |

I need a full season to see Othmann. A good sign was, on this team, he was +7. I get it he didn’t score any goals tho, and I guess that’s why people are down on him
It could very well look like this out of camp where Perrault starts in Hartford
Cuylle Miller Mika
Panarin Trocheck Laf
Berard Parsinen Othmann
Edstrom Carrick Raddysh/Rempe
Or
Othmann Parsinen Raddysh
Edstrom Carrick Berard/Rempe
Bottom 6 has competitive training camp written all over it. Lots of jobs available
One thing I thought of recently is could Edstrom be the 3C? Maybe that gets an extended look (over Parsinen). I’d still be down to add Kuznetsov tho for that role. Either way I think Mika begins at RW and see what happens |

First reports came out when Sully got hired was that he wants Mika back at C. So we will see how that pans out. If thats the case, Trocheck likely ends up at 3C. That could open up a spot for someone on the wing.
I dont know about Edstrom at C because through 55 games last year, he only took 4 faceoffs and lost all 4. Bottom 6 is very crowded, and although Rempe showed better play towards the end of the year I think he could be in and out of the lineup for guys like Raddysh, Berard, Othmann, Parssinen, Brodz who are better overall hockey players.
Kuzy is an interesting option although hes not particularly great at faceoffs. I always picture 3C in an old school manner, that it has to be a checking line with good defensive guys that chip in offensively and a reliable C that can win the faceoffs in the D zone. Kuzy would be misplaced playing out of the top 6 I feel. The thing is many of these Russian players are pretty flexible anywhere in the offense, so maybe he could play RW as a lefty, the same way Panarin plays LW as a righty... stick always in a position to shoot. |

The Habs, Sens and Islanders have gotten better. Jackets who knows. Caps may fall out. Rangers have very slightly improved defensively. Offensively is a question because we have to hope the kids play well and produce. We have to rely on Sully, who isnt a coach who develops rookies and who has won only one series in the past 8 years. Getting rid of Miller was a no brainer, he needed a fresh start.
We will see. |

As bad as they were all season they still only finished 6 pts away from the playoffs, and contrary to your beliefs we do have a pretty good team/players. Last year was just a cluster(frank) in every single way once the off season began, and it’s definitely not like that this summer at least. You’d think they’d come back hungry, pissed off and motivated too |

Biggest issue is their bottom 6 has no point production and their bottom 4 defense is bad.

Actually, the biggest issue is we dont know who is going to center the third line. As far as scoring, playing less than 11 mins a game, in 35 games Berard had 6 goals/10 points. In a full season, youre looking at 25+ points out of him. The Raddysh pick up, He can contribute 25+ points. Edstrom seemed to find a scoring touch. Carrick played far above anything we would have expected out of him. Rempe started settling down into more of a hockey player and less of a novelty.
We still dont know what Othmann can contribute. We know he can be productive at an AHL level. Same goes for Parssinen, he looks like he can produce. 5 points in 11 games in extremely limited time with the Rangers is promising. 16 points in 48 games split between 3 teams last seaosn, its not horrible, pacing 30 points. |

3rd line center issue ties into no scoring from bottom 6. I like the 4th line as a whole, but dont expect a ton of points. They will do other things well tho. 3rd line overall is just really weak until proven otherwise.
borgen/soucy and schneider/vak/morrow just very weak. Bottom pair players. |

The defense is what I am most worried about. Pairs will likely be...
Gavrikov/Fox
Schneider/Borgen
Soucy/Morrow
Yes, Schneider a righty will be playing on the left side. IN the event that they choose to keep Morrow on the roster.
Well, as Ive mentioned, if Sullivans plan is to put Mika back at center, that makes Trocheck the 3C which solves the 3rd line issue.

6pts is a mountain when compared to the other teams that were in front of us getting better. Then you have the Piles, Jackets and Wings getting better also. We lost a 25 goal scorer and we are hoping everyone plays better and makes up for his production.
You want Mika, Bread and Fox to be hungrier? Soft serve ice cream is harder than these guys.
Our defense just plain sucks!!
Ill never say it cant happen, hey Covid happened, but we will soon see. |

The Isles and Jackets Im not worried about. Sens, Wings and Habs are gonna be annoying.
Bread will be Bread. He will do what he does. Playoffs this and that, youre not making the playoffs without him. Fox we never knew if he was 100% healthy, then Lindgren falls off a cliff and the team full on implodes. Fox should be fine. Mika is my biggest concern. A lot has been said between team and player. He basically has the team by the balls. He can do or not do whatever he wants and there was never any accountability. We will see how that pans out.
The defense, meh. But thats always been the tone this off season. We will see. |
