Funny thing is, its not as if he hasnt spent money.
I remember the year he took over, the sabres went nuts in free agency with horrible contracts. - Fakepartofme
It's not that he doesn't have money, he just hires terrible people to run his team and is likely too involved in hockey decisions.

You need to look in depth. They fired half of their amateur and pro scouting departments and never replaced them. Constant turnaround at all times and everybody wants to commit suicide.

Whatever happens tonight/tomorrow, it's still a very encouraging season from a team that seems to be jumping ahead of schedule in their rebuild.
Hutson is the biggest difference from last season. Well him and the overall team growing together (they are still the 2nd youngest team in the NHL). I dare think adding Demidov and perhaps Reinbacher next season will push the Habs further into becoming a competitive team. Exciting times to come and nothing but great things to say about what Hughes and Gorton have done. - Scabeh
Great young forwards and defense, but the Achillies heal is Goaltending. They have average, at best, goaltending. If they were to go after a great young goalie, giving up assets, they could grow into a very competitive team very quickly. This year is a sneak preview of coming attractions. Soon enough, the Lightning and Panthers are going to start sliding down the standings. They're getting tapped out of grade A prospects and draft picks, plus their cores are getting older. Boston was the 1st of those 3 great Atlantic teams to fall into rebuild, who will be next?
