Don't think they want that optic in the first place. Now with Bread's scandal that could look worse. |

Yea he was the asst under torts lol it’s never the quickest fix hiring the right coach but i think we’re close enough that it could happen with the right guy. Just finding the right guy seems difficult
I hate doing the Monday morning qb thing, but I wonder where they are if they just keep gallant. That seems like the misstep Drury made. Gallant got a raw deal and I wonder if the players feel that a couple years later (since they didn’t like Lavy apparently) - Slimtj100
Gallant always seems to be getting a raw deal.

I’m sure you feel similarly, but the idea of one of our players blossoming on the Pens would give me nightmares. He has so much potential, just makes a ton of errors. The right coach could make him a stud if he could think the game better.
Curious, who’s at the top of your team hatred list? It was the Pens for me for close to 10 years but has shifted back to the Devils recently. - TC88
Yea I never like seeing Penguins going to help other rivals. Like Anthony Beauvillier assisted on Ovechkin's goal in Game 1. Didnt love seeing that since we traded him there.
That's a good question - I think when you arent as competitive, your rivalries die a little bit - but here's how i looked at it over the years:
2008-2013 - Flyers/Capitals
2014-2025 - Rangers/Capitals
Penguins and Rangers have had a lot of good battles over the years. Still bitter we blew that 3-1 series lead against you a few years ago. Felt like the Penguins couldve gone on a run had we gotten past you.

Everyone seems to be forgetting that pretty well all of us were done with Gallant's inability to make adjustments. I guess that would be difficult when you don't actually employ a system, but it's true nonetheless.
Remember how frustrating it was to watch them try the same breakouts and entries over and over again, without success or deviation?? |

 - SuperHenderson13 the 91-92 series was one that I remember starting to hate the pens, and it hasn’t really stopped since lol
We’ve both had good moments vs the other over the years which in the end is probably the fairest thing the hockey gods could do
That 7 gamer in Pitt, where Hank may have played his game ever, was epic. |

i feel like there is a lot of overlap of complaints from gallant/lavi before they were let go. no system/system sucks and no adjustments. players look like they dont care. so many of us were fed up with the players after that devils series and we're in that exact spot again 2 years later. |

These guys need stability. Why does Laf suck? 3 different coaches doesn’t help development Id think |

The question that truly needs to be answered is how much was due to the coaching and how much was due to the players. What if adjustments were proposed and the players just didn't make them? I am not saying that is the case, but based on what we have seen, would it shock you if the split was closer to 50/50? |

I do agree but I would consider trading for Sullivan (within reason). Kandre for Sullivan i might. Rangers need a good coach
Q I know you want but I think that is just inviting more bad PR which they simply don’t need right now
We’re gonna end up with Torts😬 - Slimtj100
We complain now about young player development. If that happens,...... |

This is a pretty consistent complaint from me the last few seasons. I can't tell you how many times a player is interviewed during intermission, says what the team needs to do (get the puck deep, more pucks on net, etc), and then doesn't do it the next period. It baffles and infuriates me. If you know what to do, why aren't you doing it?! That's why I feel it may not be the coach and may be a locker room culture issue instead. |

And why it only gets you so far having players like that. This is why I like Tocchet so much, he’s without a doubt a North South identity guy and we’re gathering those types of players slowly but surely |

How about we make the playoffs first?
Have you watched these playoffs? Every team thats in is faster than us. We are slow as poop and our defense wouldnt intimated an 18u team. |

I believe with a new coach, a new hunger, a new captain , a refreshed Shesty, and a few roster adjustments, we’re contending again.

Yes, it points to player and team identity. But, I don't think of it as East/West vs. North/South. Making adjustments speaks to the strength of a player's will and effort level. They don't make the adjustments they speak of because the other team is trying to not let them and doing so is difficult. It takes a player saying, "(frank) you. I'm making that play whether you let me or not." That is the type of player we have great need of. Whether they are forward, or defense, skill or depth, big or small. In short, we need more heart.
God, I miss Jesper Fast. |

The roster adjustments is the hard part obviously, and how and where that happens. The most pressing NEED is a minute munching LHD imo. That would really settle things down back there
That’s who I’d trade Laf for, a top pair LHD |

Berard if he played every game, maybe next season, is someone who could win the extra effort award. His heart seems to be there. Othmann too, I liked what he was bringing most nights. His offense should come.
It did say a lot that only Cuylle seemed to deserve that award this year, and at least he got it. Speaks to the lack of heart |

All of this in under a year? Ok sure.
But were we really a contending team to begin with?? As you stated before the PP carried us along with outstanding goal tending. The forwards havent had much change and the defense is most definitely weaker.
So how can we contend again when we werent really contenders to begin with?? |

There is no way you are getting a top pair defense man for Laffy. 5 years in and playing with Panarin and his numbers arent that good. |

If you make the ECF twice in a 3 yr period, you’re in fact considered a contender. In Brukies world this isn’t the case. |

You figure they’re at least humbled right now (as players). Especially the Shestys, lafs, Trochecks, foxes, etc where they should be hungry again. They didn’t seem, by any stretch of the imagine, to be very hungry this year |
