Only problem I had last night was the 2nd period. Leafs stopped skating. I thought they were good in the 3rd. Ottawa scored on literally their first shot of the period, 15 minutes in. Toronto deserved the win.

2nd and most of the 3rd. Only the results count but Ottawa was all over the leafs in the 2nd and most of the 3rd.
So as we all know, the team that wins the first game 6-2 didn't really win the game, and the team that lost 2-6 had many positives they can build on... - Atomic Wedgie
Tkatchuk with 2 goals and an assist. He clearly wasn’t healthy before yesterday.

How are you “all over” a team when you don’t get a shot for 15 minutes, though? I liked the leafs in the 3rd. - fifty__missions
Leafs had a billion blocked shots, the ice was tilted in the 2nd. They were better in the 3rd at keeping everything to the outside (and more blocks), but all game at 5v5 they couldn't make a pass or breakout cleanly, with a few bad giveaways and miscues.

Leafs were pretty close to a perfect shut down mode in the 3rd. They didn't generate a lot but they still outshot and outchanced the Sens in spite of playing a dump it in and rag the puck style. For me, they were great most of the 3rd. One mistake by OEL cost them a flukey one.

The leafs blocked quite a few shots (which is good), but they seemed to be chasing the sens. This improved in the 3rd for sure, but the 2nd was pretty bad.
Learn from it and move on. They arent going to be perfect each period, which is fine and not expected but it seemed like they spent quite a bit of time in their own end.

The upside is that we've kinda looked like poo 5v5, so there's only room to improve. - gravyface
For sure.
The sens will come out flying in game 3...at home, first playoff game etc. If the leafs can weather that and not let the sens gain momemtum.....they should be fine.
But they let the sens back in this series.
Eliminate the sens early so I can rest easy the rest of the playoffs.
Stolarz pummeling that rat Ridly Greig with his stick and body checking him was a good moment. - Scabeh
so good. Stolarz is a giant in all his gear, slight lean into Greig and hes flattened
my immediate thought after that and the offsetting penalties, was ...good, finally the leafs getting chippy and mean and it paying off. instead of getting them short handed.

It was nice to see a little Belfour in Stolarz. There's no way he should have gotten a penalty for that, Greig was clearly in the wrong...after the whistle, skating through the crease. But Im glad he did and hope it continues, also hopefully it starts a fire in the rest of the leafs team as well.
