The real ? is how will the talking heads on Sportsnet, HNIC etc. spin these facts to ensure we all know the Sens are far from out of it, should feel good being down 2-0 and that the Leafs should fear the Sens and Brady Tkachuk. - Cush29
That's easy.
"Ottawa returns home where they haven't lost to the Leafs since December of 2023 and where they are 17-4-2 in the second half of the season."

So here's a fun little thingy:
https://www.nhl.com/gamec...tor/2025/04/22/2024030112
Do the "goal visualizer" for Domi's goal.
Not only do you get to see him skate through two Senators on his way to scoring, but the visualizer then shows Ullmark fire the puck to centre ice in frustration, and the Leafs pile off the bench and celebrate at centre ice. - Atomic Wedgie
That thing is cool!
I don't think it was Ullmark who ripped the puck to centre after the goal I think it was #43 (Kleven). Also if you watch Jake McCabe where was he headed to get the game winning puck? lol

Ya, but no matter what style you play ....every team in the league should be worried about whether they can beat Florida. They are as deep and talented as they come. - The Law
I disagree. If the Leafs played the way the Senators did on the forecheck, they'd be aggressive enough and skilled enough to have a better chance.
If they let a team like Florida control the play, the way they did the last time they met in the playoffs but now with even better players, it'll be a shorter series than if the Leafs started controlling more of the play, especially on home ice. |

There's a challenge in all of it.
You can play a strong puck possession style of game - like Keefe's style - that emphasizes the collective use of everyone on the ice to try and retain control of the puck and move it up ice as a unit. It can look dazzling and it can produce really nice metrics - and for the most part it wins hockey games. The challenge is that when it breaks the safety net isn't as strong - guys are potentially moving in the wrong direction or there's a lack of secondary coverage in the event of a lost battle and so on. In my opinion this is what undid a lot of our playoffs under Keefe.
You can also play a more fundamental style of hockey which is very safe - dump it in, dump it away, clog the middle, block shots and hope to capitalize on your opportunities. It's a lot uglier and frankly doesn't leave you feeling very comfortable a lot of the time. Stolarz and Woll have been called on to make fewer high danger saves than teams of the past few years - by a noticeable margin (1.5 fewer than last year, which was the best year the Leafs had under Keefe, excluding the COVID season) - and while they have both been excellent, the team is actually playing a style that's more successful in the playoffs.
I would rather they have a hybrid where they control the puck more, forecheck harder, and collapse better in the D-Zone - but invariably in there you have to create gaps as well that the other team can exploit (but if Carolina had better offensive gamebreakers, I think their style might just be a winning combination).
So I found Keefe's system too porous and risky and I find Berube's system a little too risk averse and dysfunctional. What's is the realistic happy medium? - Monkeypunk
Enjoying wins.

No offence, Cushie, but you need to start showing Brady Tkachuk more respect.
The guy was (Wedgie checks notes) 104th in the league in scoring this year.
Every time he steps on the ice, he's (Wedgie checks notes) Ottawa's 4th highest scorer.
And don't forget the intangibles - he's got (Wedgie checks notes) two games of playoff experience, which he can draw upon to rally his teammates.
I wish the Leafs had a guy who averaged about 3/4 of a point every game or better. Unfortunately, we (Wedgie checks notes) only have five of them. - Atomic Wedgie

I hope you find another "wild" distorted stat to try and make beLeaf Rielly is actually amazing.
In the last 20 playoff games, he leads all defenders in goals punched into their own net by the other team. |

that oel giveaway was pretty bad - TheMussel
Watch the play just before the soft pass, Domi went the wrong way and got there late...OEL flubbed it but Domi could've cleaned it up for him.
Domi redeemed himself in OT.
Marner missing the wide open net in the 1st didn't help avoid OT. So (frank)ing close, I wanted that for him and Knies. |

I've been told! You should post this uplifting comment in the Sens thread to help them get over being down 2 games to 0.

I just looked at the season stats because I had heard someone talking about how good the Sens were at home. Their overall stats aren't that impressive, so I figured there had to be some streak or something . . .

So does the Robertson penalty cost him game 3 for patches or what are we thinking. Obviously Berube is waiting on us to make his decision. |
