Thats the key. It seems like the Rangers are giving Sullivan the richest coaching contract in the history of the NHL. If you make that big of investment in your coach, but dont give him the pieces to work with, why bother hiring him?

This was always the best case scenario for the Rangers, despite me being okay with the Penguins moving on from Sullivan, the Rangers benefitting is why i hate it.

Drury needs to move some players this summer that dont fit with Sully before Sully exposes them and their trade value drops.

Drury will do what is needed this offseason. He showed this year that if there is a way to move someone (ie. Goodrow, Trouba) he will find a way. I think some BIG moves are in the near future.

John Tortorella did speak with the Rangers but will not be re-joining after all.

Believe Sullivan’s contract is for five years - and is the highest annual salary for a coach in NHL history.

Rangers have to be good next year, giving up the 11th overall pick this year says "we expect to be worse next year"

no way

- jimbro83

Alternative is they could want to keep next years pick as a trade asset for the upcoming trade deadline.

I like it, could be a steal.

So much hate on twitter already, I swear people don’t watch the games. He’s the exact type of player we need and who they should take a chance on. Low risk, high reward.

Even if he doesn’t work out that contract is nothing and can mostly be buried in the AHL. It’s a no risk move for more depth

I say this with no snark, animosity, etc. go check any teams tweet about signing any player and there will always be miserable (frank)s in the replies. It’s the same reason most reviews for things are bad. You don’t make a review for something that is only ok unless you’re psychotic

Parsinnen signing leaves the Rangers with around $8.422 million in cap space. They still have other RFAs to sign (Cuylle, Miller, Rempe, Edström, etc.).
