Kreider legit was hurt all season with various things. I’m sure his age doesn’t help, but a full offseason will help him heal and could have a bounce back season. My point is, he isn’t Trouba or Goodrow where his play on the ice makes the cap hit very uncomfortable. Kreids could be really good next season with a fresh mindset. This year I imagine was very hard on him

Can't disagree.

I just look at one Evander Kane. The guy has been banged up for quite some time now. Had a rough year with surgeries and poop, but in the meantime it allowed other injuries to fully heal and now he looks like his old self. Sure all along he's been saying his felt better than ever, but you truly as a fan couldn't trust that until you saw him step on the ice.

Ideally same happens for Kreider, because he is an exciting player to watch when he's on his game.

That rabbit could be sully tho. He will make a world of difference for them out there

Rangers were verrrrrrrrrry lazy this season and that will not happen now. For whatever reason, Lavy just let it slide it seemed like.

That's the thing I want to see more than anything else, Effort. We had none this past season. Every game the other team was skating around like their hair was on fire, and our guys were skating like they were at Rockefeller center

Did he just let it slide or the team just completely ignored him?

I’ve wondered what this hire does for Kreider. Because it wasn’t assumed Sullivan would be the new HC at all really. Maybe Sully smooths things over where they keep him. We know Kreider was hurt all season so maybe he stays and can have a renaissance season
- Slimtj100

The only this is rangers have just over 8 million in cap space and Rempe, miller, Edstrom and cuylle are all are RFAs. How do they get cap space? So many players have NMCs. Kreider is the easiest to move and still bring back assets. I would like to keep him but if we are going to see roster turnover he is gonna be the first to move I feel

Good to see the hiring of coach Mike Sullivan my former line mate on a minor league team in San Diego called the Gulls 1990-91

He played center!

Mike knows what kind of players he needs to win playoff games
Anxious to see what changes he recommends this summer @NYRangers

Can’t it be both? They probably ignored him but he didn’t do anything about it or hold anyone accountable.

I won’t be butt hurt if Kreider is moved, especially if it’s for a business reason like needing the cap. But…there’s a part of me that hopes he sticks around. If he can get truly healthy, he has skills that could be impactful.

Call me old school, but I also like the idea of an all time ranger ending their career with us. Leetch was a big reason I got into hockey, and trading Kreider feels very similar to that.

Right now feels like 93 when Keenan just got hired after a terrible season. We need it to have the same effect

I think Kreider odds of staying are at least 25% now as opposed to zero percent before Sully. See what happens, but part of me agrees with you.

He’s ECHL tonight lol the goal by Schenn is one of the softest I’ve ever seen. Makes it 3-1. Killer goal against

Are you saying you want still Lavi behind our bench?
- Tonybere

No what Im saying is if the plan was always to get Sully, it was a bit of a gamble for things to pan out how they did to fire Lavy and hire Sully.

Doesn’t matter what the plan was. Lavi needed to go. Had no control of the team.

I think the Rangers were in the process of getting numerous interviews lined up, then Sullivan was let go by Pitt and they were all canceled.

Agreed. I just hope he lets them play with emotion/physicality. One of the reasons I hated AV was bc he was a turn the other cheek coach. Didn’t want teammates standing up for each other (taking a penalty sometimes to do so) etc. Used to staple guys to the bench as soon as they stood up for each other. If that’s how Sullivan is, it’s going to be a long 5 years. But if he allows that side of the game, I think he can bring some structure to this team.

Purely based on memory, but I’ve always thought of the Pens under Sully as being the right kind of tough. Maybe not throwing haymakers at center ice tough, but physical in the corners and on the forecheck. And a speed game naturally brings on bigger hits.

As long as they’re a team and support each other, I’m good.

Sully is going to have to go out of his comfort zone a bit and play the kids. Seems some Pitt fans said he relies mostly on his vets but when you have guys like Crosby, Malkin and Letang, why woudnt you. Maybe he will blend the kids in.

In 8 years since winning the Cup, he has won only one playoff round. We will see how this plays out.

FFS.

That theres the possibility that going after Sullivan was premeditated. That he needed this team to be horrible to fire Lavy and hire Sully. Youre not firing Lavy if this team plays decent and makes the playoffs.

This honestly seems like a constant, repetitive thing with these coaches. No one likes to play the kids... Gallant, Lavy, now Sully.

Ya, the love for Sully is kind of overdone IMO. I’m willing to see what he brings to the table, but he definitely wouldn’t have been my first choice.
