As bad as it was they still only missed by a measly 6 pts. And everyone sucked. By accident they should be better.
Our first year coach history is pretty good too. I mentioned a few times, you’d hope they come back embarrassed and hangry next year
Housley was a huge problem imo too, so that is also terrific news that he was canned |

Us missing by 6 points compared to the teams around us isnt an indication of how good we are despite how bad we played, its really an indication of how bad the rest of the East is.
One loss to the Isles and we would have had their pick. We would have been the 4th worst team in the East.
Its like talking with a guy that just ripped the most putrid fart that smells like death, vomit and rotten eggs. While the rest of us are praying not to throw up, the guy who ripped it sits there analyzing it likes its a 1996 Petrus. |

This is kind of why I’m ok with this year happening. We couldn’t beat Florida being in a much better spot, so making the playoffs this year really wouldn’t have made much difference in fans mindset.
It may not seem like it, and no one will believe it right now, but this last season will be a blessing in disguise. It needed to happen imo. They needed to change leadership and the identity of the team. Now that process is already a year old and they’re moving forward. Who’s left to move forward with is the million dollar question |

My biggest issue is that this team has no captain and I'm not sure there is one in the locker room. A team really needs that leader, no rolling with a bunch of A's etc. |

But theyre not done with this, not by a long shot. What they did was eviscerate the heart of the team, while leaving the crap behind. Zib, Kreider, Panarin, Fox (to a lesser extent but hes just as culpable for sort of being the silent Ranger) the old leadership, the worst of it IMO, is still here.
This was my thing when we got Miller. I wasnt worried so much so about whether or not he would produce. I was worried about whether or not he would be accepted as a leader, assuming thats part of the reason why we traded for him, with the old guard still very much around. |

Miller or Trocheck. This is why I believe Miller was traded for, is to be the captain. People will hate and it will be funny when it works |

Youre that guy that if the Rangers were to rehire John Muckler as head coach of the team, you'd sit here and try to convince everyone why its a good idea. |

You’ve blindly believed in him though. Everything he does to you is the best thing anyone could’ve ever done to you. The moves he makes are irrational, and rarely work. Michaletti said in the nicest way possible, he’s a young GM and needs to learn from the past. What he really means is, he’s F’d up big time and can’t let it happen again. |

Look at his drafts, only 2-3 guys are under 6 ft. That’s a you thing. You live for that.
And who has tried like hell to give Rempe, you love Rempe, the opportunity to stick around and to be a good player. Knowing how intimidating his size is if it matures. Trading for Borgen, a big fella, because they needed size on D. You live for that too.
He’s building the team you would but you’ll never get over Buch being traded to see what he’s doing through 🤷🏻♂️ |

That Michaletti interview is a huge eye opener and true insight into the heart of the team. Drury really (frank)ed up the team and definitely didn't read the room right and wasted a whole season.
Id be fine with Trocheck as Captain, not Miller because of his fiasco in Vancouver.
I don't see anything on the positive side from this season, the team played 500 hockey after the Miller trade and hiring Sully, his old buddy feels like the good old boys club thing.
Nothing wrong with a positive outlook, its just that I don't see anything to be positive about.
We will see in a few months what happened. |

We can’t really judge anything until the draft, free agency and trade season happens. It doesn’t make any sense to be positive or negative about next year yet. I am taking a wait and see approach |

Exactly. Drury definitely messed up last offseason, but nothing Micheletti said is surprising at all. It’s exactly what we all speculated ruined the season. If he can ace this offseason, and the team vibes improve this team can 180 very easily. I could see Laf as a PPG player under Sullivan and think the defense as a whole will be much better. Way too early to judge. |

You are viewing it in the positive prism. Others in the negative. Two sides, same coin. Time will tell where they land. I think everyone hopes it lands right side up. |

It doesnt matter who you draft or bring in if the team attitude is rotten.
Using the Borgen trade to some how make your point, doesnt. Borgen was a knee jerk reaction to 2 situations. 1. Something Kakko said to the media & 2. The fact that they had traded Trouba and didnt have a suitable replacement. So we got a guy who was a 3rd pairing defenseman, who is passable in time of need as a 2nd pairing guy... which is what we are, were.
Again, grabbing at straws, sipping Petrus in a septic tank. |

While that is true, why give Borgen a five year deal for 4 mil per (fixed)? Yes he played well initially but there was no specific rush to lock him up that long. I have no issue giving Vaakanainen his salary because it’s not that much above the minimum. But Soucy having one more year at $3.2 mil looks like an outlier and you surrendered a solid pick to get him. If Drury gave up a fifth, we likely wouldn’t bat an eye. |

Not in the room, leadership, etc. actual results on the ice. I’d think he coached the d corp (terrible) and I thought he was the PP guy (terrible)
