which one of you did this?

Now thats an offseason

Laf, Kreider, Schneider, Key, Othmann, Zib, and Soucy all on the move!?

Don’t hate the final roster though.

The issue with these wild teams is they always seem to end up burying Gabe on the 3rd line, which IMO, you might as well trade him at that point.

Also, I think you gotta move Panarin off that team.

Sullivans familiarity with Dumoulin could make that a possibility. But if that’s all Drury does I’d be pretty disappointed.

I know what you mean but last year could be a hangover from Trouba/Goodrow and this year they start fresh with a new coach, again.

Id rather see Key gone and the D upgraded substantially than any forwards traded. Id like to see if CK20 is healed and if he could bounce back.

I just dont know if Zibby will agree to move on and if anyone would want him for 5 more years.

They need to learn from Laf and Kakko when it comes to Gabe. For that reason, I’d love him playing 20+ minutes a game in Hartford, and if he succeeds giving him a similar opportunity with NYR. He’s already had two additional season to develop than either of them had, but he was also a much more scrawny guy. A major breakout from him would be the break we desperately need.

Thats why Im so hopeful they play him on a line with Cuylle and Miller. That puts him in a position to succeed playing with those 2 horses.

It also leaves the prior years top line of Panarin, Trocheck, LAF alone. Rolling Kreider and Zib on the "3rd" line essentially is a 2nd, 2nd line.

If Key was offersheeted Rangers would get a 1st and a 3rd. I’d be cool with that, but not sure any team would bite with that cost. Cuylle likely the same, but I’m sure NYR match any offer for him.

Definitely a possibility. Drury’s plan could be this, or that crazy offseason pickle posted. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Borgen gets a 4.1m extension after 6 games...

Cuylle, theyre gonna play hardball with on his extension. Make it make sense. I know people talk bridge deal, but Id give him an 8yr extension if the price was right.

We saw what happened with Holloway and Edmonton. Don’t make the same mistake. Get a deal done ASAP

Management drastically (frank)ed that one up and should've never gotten there with Holloway or Broberg for that matter. Although Broberg was a goner either way.

However, going forward I am a little curious if agents are going to tell their clients to hold out and either make their current GM pay more or see what an offer sheet holds.

They completely blew that one. May not end up costing them as much as first thought given where they are. But that roster could be even deeper with those two

Id offer Cuylle 5m x 8y, dust off my hands and move on to the next thing.

I assumed he’d move up to that next bracket and return would be 1st and 3rd, but you might be right, $4M could be a good number. Unless a team offers him $5M which isn’t impossible.

I'd give him that deal and slap the C on his chest. Let him be our Shane Doan for the next 10 years.
The captaincy is an interesting dilemma for this team. Being the organization that goes without a captain for 4 years and rotates A's around half the team is a ridiculous look, so hopefully they've gotten that out of their system.
Trouba was chosen at the time when the majority of the fanbase felt it should go to Kreider. He was a solid leader until this past season(regardless of how anyone feels about that), but his inflated contract always loomed over his captaincy.
I'm sure Miller winds up with an A, but with his history I don't think he's captain material. Miller being here excludes Trocheck for me because I feel like he will always defer to Miller as his buddy and overall better player.

Broberg should've been traded at the draft. He had demanded out and it was quite clear he wasn't coming back.

Mistake 2 was waiting until end of July to hire a GM and handcuffing him with no salary room.

Granted it doesn't look as bad as in a roundabout way as we ended up with Walman and Frederic, plus Holloway once again injured. But still hurts to see the poor asset management that was forced onto us for no real reason.

Drury doesn’t have much goodwill left so I’d prefer he doesn’t start off with our most important RFA by insulting him

I wonder how many teams have their own original draft picks to give an offer sheet.

Edit: teams where a player (Cuylle) would actually sign for.

i dont know how insulting it is to give a guy 5m per coming off his ELC. You can use Lawson Crouse as a comparable, Id say they're similar players and its more than what hes making.

I have no idea what the rules are on this, but Im not sure it has to be their own, as long as they own any 1st round draft pick...

SJ ended up with a HAUL just for basically giving Wallman a jockstrap for 50 games.

Got a 2nd just for taking him.

Then traded to EDM for a 1st

Had to be their own pick. If they traded their own they’d have to get it back
