So are you saying we lost those trades?
- Brukie

Vatrano, trade was a win. Being unable to resign him huge loss.
Kane, loss.
Smith, loss.
Wennberg, meh, 2nd was a bit much.
Copp, as much as I wanted him because he was the type of player we needed at the time in the middle 6, a 1st and a 2nd was an overpayment for a guy that never had more than 40pts in a season prior to him getting here.

I know you only see it thru Ranger glasses but those teams did a true bottom up rebuild, they were bad a long time and have been getting better and better every year, the Rangers started to rebuild then went out and signed FA, had some success and then started to trade away picks again to chase it. Now we miss the playoffs and had a terrible year. Young teams do that ie: the Devils veteran teams that are serious Cup contenders shouldnt.

Now I didnt say Cup contenders, I said playoff contenders, HUGE difference.

Yes I think if you dont win, you lose. Whats so wrong with that logic?

Yes sooner or later, the Sabres with their talent will figure it out, it is when not if.

- Brukie

You said the copp, Panarin, and moves like Wennberg were bad moves cause they didn’t win the cup. What have any of these other teams won? They all drafted players, signed free agents and have made trades over the last 5 years too. But somehow they are playoff contenders and the rangers aren’t? The logic just doesn’t roll. You act like the rangers can’t get better but only other teams can

I dont believe in the logic that were losers. Majority of teams in contention makes moves. However you can argue theres been a lot of overpayment for the return. Also I feel like many moves were reactive and not proactive. The Kane move was just straight up dumb as well as trading for Reilly Smith.

I am just trying to live in Brukies world and see his logic. It just doesn’t flow lol

I dont think its that this team cant get better, I dont think he trusts Drury to make the correct moves to steer it in a better direction.

He never said that he said the moves the rangers made were bad because they didn’t win the cup. But again none of these other teams he mentioned won cups either. If he would just say they are all losers I would agree with him lol

I had this debate with one of my buddies calling the Senators frauds. Im like, how could they be frauds. They had a good year after years of suffering. These guys havent seen the playoffs in forever, they've been drafting and developing for years and finally they make the playoffs. Sure, theyre huge underdogs to the Leafs who are considered favorites for the Cup, but that doesnt make them frauds. As if theres a team that didnt make the playoffs who would give the Leafs more of a run for their money.

RangerSaver hasnt been around nearly as much, so I felt like a long winded response would fit the bill.

Many - if not most - felt that $3.65 mil for Vatrano, based on how he faded down the stretch and in the playoffs, was an overpayment, especially for four years. He bookended okay seasons with a big year, with that season impacting the view on Vatrano.

I definitely didnt feel that way. 20 goals for a middle 6 energy guy, thats a very fair number.

You will never understand what Im saying, all Im trying to say was that all of these teams, Habs, Sens, Jackets and Rangers have been thru a rebuild for the last few years and the Rangers went for it and came up short. Now these other teams which did their rebuild patiently are starting to win games and are now PLAYOFF contenders, not CUP contenders. The Rangers were CUP contenders the last 4 years, not now. These teams still have a bunch of good prospects and picks, which the Rangers really dont, those teams can use those picks and prospects for trades of established players, thus making their teams better. The Rangers after this disastrous season need to figure out what went wrong first and take it from there.

They need to get much better to make the playoffs nest year because I think these other teams will start to sprout now

This takes us back to the original point. So you admit the rangers were cup contenders. Then why was the Copp/Vatrano/Wennberg trades bad? They were going for it, what you do when you are trying to win a cup. And they got to the final 4 twice. The rangers weren't rebuilding like those teams. We finally got to the point
